Chapter 19 Filters 743
m Select an object in the Canvas, Layers list, or Timeline, then choose an option from the Add Filter
pop-up menu in the toolbar.
The lter is applied to an image layer.
Note: Although you can apply a lter from the Library to another eects object in the Layers list
(a behavior or another lter), the lter aects the parent image layer, not the eects object.
Apply multiple lters to an object
When multiple lters are applied to an object, they have a cumulative eect. In the Layers list and
Timeline, multiple lters appear nested under the object to which they are applied.
Do one of the following:
m Select the image layer or folder to apply the lters to, Shift-select contiguous lters or Command-
select noncontiguous lters in the Library, then click Apply.
m Shift-select contiguous lters or Command-select noncontiguous lters in the Library, then drag
them to the image layer or folder in the Layers list, Canvas, or Timeline.
The lters are applied to the image layer in the order they are selected. For example, if you select
Echo, Brightness, and Bevel, in that order, and then apply them to an object, their stacking order
in the Layers list is Bevel above Brightness above Echo. The stacking order of lters determines
the order of application which, in turn, aects the result of the composite eect. For more
information about managing lter order, see Reorder lters on page 747.
