Filters overview
Filters are special eects used to modify the appearance of images and video clips in Motion.
You can apply lters to obtain artistic eects (blurs, distortions, glows, stylized looks), to perform
image corrections (color balancing, deinterlacing, sharpening), and to create sophisticated
composting eects (green screen keying). For information on keying lters, see Keying
overview on page 487.
Filter categories are organized alphabetically in the Library.
If you open a project created in a previous version of Motion containing lters or media that
are no longer available, an alert message appears listing the missing or obsolete items. For lter
descriptions in earlier versions of Motion, see the user manual associated with that version of
the application.
Many third-party companies oer FxPlug lters and eects. If you install a third-party product,
additional eects appear in the Filters list, usually in a separate, custom-named category.
For information on how to apply and modify lters, as well as a description of each lter, choose
a topic in the Help table of contents (the sidebar to the left of this window).
