Audio list
Audio list overview
The Audio list displays all audio les and les containing audio (such as a multitrack QuickTime
movie) in your project. You can modify the levels of individual les (also called tracks) or you can
modify the overall audio level of the project. For more information on working with audio in
Motion, see Audio overview on page 1010.
Display the Audio list
Do one of the following:
m If the Project pane is visible, click Audio at the top of the pane.
m Choose Window > Audio (or press Command-6).
Controls in the Audio list
The Audio list contains the following adjustment controls and information about audio
components of the project:
Activation checkbox: Turns the audio track on or o.
Name eld: Identies the le by name. To edit the name, double-click the text area of a
selected le, enter a name, then press Return.
Level slider: Controls the level (volume) of the le. Numbers are measured in decibels (dB).
Modify the Level parameter by dragging the slider, by dragging in the value slider, or by
entering a numerical value in the value slider.
Audio Output pop-up menu: Species audio output channels such as Stereo, Left, Right, Center,
and so on. Choose an output channel for the audio track.
Pan slider: Displays the left-right balance of the sound. Modify the Pan parameter by dragging
the dial, by dragging in the value slider, or by entering a numerical value in the eld. Negative
numbers move panning to the left; positive numbers move panning to the right.
Mute button: Mutes all sound from a selected le. When the icon is inactive, audio from the le
plays back based on the level value.
