Blur Amount: This slider controls whether real reections appear in sharp focus or quite blurry,
depending on the surface quality of the reecting object.
Fallo: This checkbox determines whether the reection fades with distance from the object,
producing a more realistic result.
No Falloff With Falloff
When the Fallo checkbox is selected, additional controls become available. Click the
disclosure triangle beside the Fallo checkbox to reveal these controls:
Begin Distance: This slider determines the distance (inside the reection) where the fallo
begins. When the slider is set to 0, fallo starts at the reection plane.
End Distance: This slider determines the distance where the fallo ends, beyond which the
reection isn’t visible. Adjusting this slider moves the fallo point closer to the reection
plane, which causes less of the reected image to appear.
Exponent: This slider controls how quickly a reection gets fainter as the reected object
gets farther from the reective surface.
Blend Mode: This pop-up menu determines the blend mode used for the reection. Blend
modes other than “add” are useful for achieving dierent looks, even if they aren’t physically
intuitive. For more about blend modes, see Blend modes overview on page 229.
Other reection parameters
Casts Reection: The Properties Inspector of every object also contains a Casts Reection
pop-up menu (in the Blending section) that controls whether an object is reective. There are
three options:
Yes: The object is reected in nearby reective objects.
