This chapter provides solutions to problems commonly encountered when
installing the Newton Press software and using it to create or download book
packages. If you have a problem, try the suggestions in this chapter. If, after
trying the suggested solutions, you still can’t solve the problem, call 1-800-
SOS-APPL (1-800-767-2775) in the United States. Outside the United States,
contact your local Apple-authorized dealer. You can also learn more about
Newton by visiting our web site at http://www.info.apple.com/newton.
Problems installing the software
If you had problems installing the Newton Press software, check the
following:
m Make sure that you’ve turned off the extensions when installing your
software by following the installation instructions in Chapter 1, “Getting
Started.”
m Make sure that your computer is running the Macintosh OS version 7.0 or
later.
m Check the Readme file on the Installation disk for late-breaking
information about your computer and installation.
m Try installing the software again. Follow the instructions exactly as given in
Chapter 1, “Getting Started.” During installation, note any error messages
that appear and make corrections, if necessary.
