Getting to know your Velocity Solo
Introduction
Easy to install, the Velocity Solo is an industry standard PCIe 2.0 card
designed to add a 2.5” Solid State Drive (SSD) via a super fast SATA III
connection. At 6Gbs, SATA III is twice as fast as SATA II and takes full
advantage of the latest SSD. The Solo also provides an additional SATA
III data connection that can be used to connect to another SSD or HDD to
provide unparalleled capacity and performance.

To prevent ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) damage
IMPORTANT HANDLING INFORMATION
Use an ESD wrist strap or discharge static electricity by touching a grounded
bare metal surface before handling, installing, and removing the Velocity Solo.
Observe proper ESD grounding techniques. Store your HDD or SSD in an anti-
static bag until you are ready to install it in the system. When installing and
removing the Velocity Solo Card hold by the edge of the printed circuit board
(PCB), and avoid touching components including connectors.

Connecting your SSD to the Velocity Solo Card
1. Slide your SSD onto the SATA connector on the Velocity Solo Card.
2. Use the included mounting screws to secure the drive in place.

Installing the Velocity Solo in your desktop
computer
1. Before installing your drive, take note of the drive’s part number, located
on the sticker on the front of the drive. This is will come in handy when
choosing the destination drive when cloning your drive with EZ Gig.
2. Power-down the system and physically remove power cord(s) from the
system.
3. Remove the cover from the
system’s chassis, following
instructions provided by the
manufacturer.
4. Select an available PCIe Gen
1 / Gen 2 (x1, x2, x4 or x8)
slot and insert the Velocity
Solo card into the slot, as
shown in Figure 1.
5. Hold the Velocity Solo card
at the edges and press down
gently into place.
6. Secure the Velocity Solo
metal bracket to the system
chassis by tightening the slot
screw.
