Connecting the Gmini™ to your Computer

9.1 Making the USB Connection

Windows

ME, 2000,XP and Mac OS 10.2.4 or better will automatically recognize the Gmini as a

Mass Storage Device when plugged in.

1. Plug the supplied USB cable into your computer. Your computer must be turned on.

2. With the Gmini XS202 off, plug the other end of the USB cable into your Gmini

3. Turn on your Gmini.

4. A new hard drive named “ JUKEBOX ” will appear on your computer.

• The displayed hard drive is the hard drive of your Gmini. You can now drag and drop any ﬁ les you want, to or

from the Gmini

• Please also read the disconnection procedure below as disconnecting the cable at any time without warning

may cause data loss.

9.2 Using the Gmini™ as an External Drive

As the Gmini acts like a regular hard drive when connected to your computer, getting your ﬁ les onto the Gmini

is as easy as ‘copy and paste’. Simply connect your Gmini to your computer as explained previously and run

Explorer (or use the Macintosh Finder™). Now, go to your computer’s hard drive, and copy (Right

mouse click, then select Copy) a music ﬁ le or a folder full of ﬁ les. Next, open up the hard drive named JUKEBOX

on the PC, open the folder you want to copy the ﬁ les to, and then right-click the mouse and select Paste. For

you can open two windows on the desktop, one being the source (your computer’s hard

drive) and the other your destination (the Gmini hard drive), and then simply drag and drop ﬁ les or folders from

one window to another. Note that music purchased on the Internet must be transferred using Windows Media

Player.

9.3 Disconnecting the Gmini™ from your Computer

WARNING: You must properly remove (unmount) your Gmini from the computer before

disconnecting the USB cable to avoid loss of data or freezing the computer and/or the Gmini. DO

NOT SIMPLY PULL OUT THE USB CABLE!!!

9.3.1 Windows

To safely unmount the Gmini hard drive, click on the system tray remove icon (green arrow as shown below)

and follow the instructions. Wait until you get a message saying that you can safely unplug the device before

disconnecting the USB cable. Attention: The operating system will not allow you to safely disconnect the Gmini

if a running application (such as Windows Media

Player) is using one of the ﬁ les. You will have to close all the

open Gmini ﬁ les in any running application as well as Windows Explorer

. Using the green disconnect arrow icon

in the system tray will then allow you to unmount the Gmini and to safely disconnect the USB cable.
