LowLightModepanelallowsselectionofthelowlightmodefortheselectedcamera.Thissettingisresponsiblefor
thecamera’sexposureresponsetochangingilluminationlevels.
Arecont Vision cameras are unique in
their implementation of exposure andimage controls in that a number of
settingsaregroupedintoselectablepresetLowLightMode.Thesettingscontrolledunderthesegroupingsinclude
exposureandgaincontrol,backlightcompensationandnoisereduction.
Thesefunctions are groupedtogether into thesepreset modes andwillautomaticallyadjust
atratesdetermined
bytheLowLightModeselected.
Therearefivedifferentmodesavailabletoselectfrom:
High Speed:Thismode enables the shortest exposuresbetween 1and 80ms. Shorterexposures reduce
motionblurforapplicationssuchasmonitoringfastmovingobjectsandreadinglicenseplates.Thetrade‐
off
is an increased level of noise.Exposure time is user configurable in this mode using the Short
Exposuredropdown menuontheLow LightMode panel. Thisis theonly lowlight modethat allowsfor
userselectableexposuretimeandthisdropdownmenuwillbegrayedoutwhenany
oftheothermodes
are selected. It is recommended thatthis modebe used only when there is constant scene illumination
sufficienttoprovideaqualityimage.
Speed:Inthismode,thefirststageofexposurecontrollimitsexposuretimeto10mswhileallowinggain
togoupto20ms.
Thesecondstageisupto80msexposuretimewhilemaintaininggainaslowaspossible.
Inthesecondstage,thespeedmodewillbehavethesameasbalancedmode.
Balanced:Similar tothe Quality settingexcept the first stageis limitedto 20mswithgain allowedupto
20,followed by thesecondstagewithexposuretime upto80ms. ThisisthedefaultsettingforArecont
Visioncamerasandwillprovidethebestexposuresettingsbalancefortypicalinstallationsassuminggood
lighting conditions. Exposure times and motion blur will increase in low light, but not as much
as with
QualityorMoonLight™modes
Quality:ThismodeissimilartoMoonLight™modeexceptforashorterexposuretime–firststageisup
to40msexposurewiththegainlimitedto5ms,secondstageisupto200msexposurewhilekeepingthe
gainaslowaspossible.
Thismodeisagoodcompromisebetweenreducingnoiseandmotionblurunder
mostlightingconditions,butwithanincreaseinmotionblurunderlowlightconditions.
MoonLight™:Thismodewillproducethebestimagequalityunderverylowlightconditionswiththeleast
amountofimagenoise.Thetrade
‐offisinfavoroflownoiseattheexpenseofhighmotion blur.There
aretwostagesofexposurecontrol:firststageislimitedto40msexposuretimewithgainlimitedto5ms,
followed byasecond stage(if the target brightness wasnot reached) with upto 500ms
exposurewhile
maintaininggainaslowaspossible.
