5. Whyis the ArecontVision camera not detecting intheSystem Setup Wizard, or why can’tthe camera be
detected from the main application window? If the camera is not detected it may be because of the PC’s
firewall
settings.To allow AV200 accessto the network theuser should configurethe firewallproperly.To
configuretheWindowsfirewall,accesstheWindows®SecurityCenterintheWindows®ControlPanelandclick
onWindowsFirewall.
In the Windows® Firewall window, click the Exceptions tab and add the following application to
the list of
exceptions (AV200.exe).Once the selections have been made close the Window®s firewall and re‐run the
Camera Installer.If the Camera Installer still cannot find thecamera make sure thatthere are no additional
softwareorhardware firewallsblockingtheconnectiononthe network.Camerasaredetectedby
the AV200
applicationusingaUDPbroadcastonPort69.IfUDPorPort69isblockedadditionalexceptionswillneedto
be made to allow the software to detect cameras on the network.To determine if the detection is being
blocked on the network,try isolating the camera and
PC from the restof thenetwork ifthere is continuing
difficultydetectingthecamera.Ifyou’rePCuses firewall software differentfrom windows standard, y check
withthesoftwaredocumentationforhowtosetanexceptionfortheAV200software.
6. Can I update all my cameras with the same
version of firmware? No, make sure to use the appropriate
firmwarefileapplicabletothecamera.Thereareseveralvariationsoffirmwareupdatefiles,withthecamera
modelbeinglistedintheupdatefilename.Pleaseensurethatthefirmwarefilebeingusedcontainsthemodel
numberofthecamera

8. When to use an auto‐iris
camera? Any Arecont Vision model with the AI post fix in the model number will
have the ability to control a DC Auto Iris lens.The auto‐iris option allows for the camera to keep the lens
optimally closed when there is sufficient scene illumination, providing good depth of focus. When
the
illuminationdiminishes,thecameraautomaticallyopenstheiris,allowingmorelighttoreachthesensor,thus
extendingthesensitivityrangeofthecamera.Thisoptionshouldonlybeusedforoutdoorapplications,where
there isa large variation in illumination. In many applications the auto‐iris is unnecessary. It
