Install Deck Drive Belt
1. Install deck drive belt. See Figure 24.
IMPORTANT: Belt will not have tension until
routed around drive pulley and idler arm is
reinstalled.
2. Reinstall idler arm and belt fingers. See
Figure 23.
3. Secure idler spring to spring bracket so
drive belt has tension. See Figure 25.
4. Reinstall belt covers and secure each
with self-tapping screws removed earlier.
IMPORTANT: Make sure belt has tension and
remains aligned after installation is complete.
Remove Ground Drive Belt
IMPORTANT: Retain all parts for
reinstallation.
1. Place unit in service position. See
Service Position on page 18.
2. Remove deck drive belt. See Remove
Deck Drive Belt on page 23.
3. Position deck at lowest cutting height.
4. Loosen nut on eye bolt and disconnect
idler arm spring. See Figure 26.

5. Remove the right-side self-tapping screw
from heat shield and rotate shield out of
the way.
6. Remove two self-tapping screws from
clutch stop bracket and remove bracket.
