Messaging
Set up an account on
MSN Messenger

Setting up an account
Before you can use
MSN Messenger
, you must set up the instant messaging account(s) to
use. For
MSN Messenger
service, you must have a
MSN Messenger service, you must have a MSN Messenger
Microsoft Passport
or
Hotmail
account.
For
Exchange Instant Messaging
, you must have an
Exchange account
.
To set up a Microsoft Passport account, go to

To set up an Exchange account, check with your company network administrator.
MSN Messenger composition menu options include the following:
Items
Description
Chats
Displays all current people being chatted to.
Sign In / Sign Out
Sign or out of MSN messenger
My Status
Display your status to your contacts (Online, Busy, Be Right Back, Away,
On The Phone, Out To Lunch, Appear Offline)
Add a Contact
Tap to add a new contact.
Edit My Text
Edit the predfined messages.
Options
Under the options select from the following tabs: General,
Hotmail
,
Messenger, SMS,
and
Switch User•
Please note
System folders (including Inbox, Deleted Items, Drafts, Outbox,
Sy and Sent Items) cannot be deleted.
General
: Tap the box to cleat the saved password.
Hotmail
: Select E-mail delivery options (Off, Use filters and For
all new e-mail); Select the Junk mail folder (Default, Enhanced,
Exclusive); Tap the check box to “Download new e-mail
automatically”
Messenger
: Enter your display name; Tap “Update presence
information for all contacts automatically”..
SMS
: Tap the check box to use SMS to keep my messages and
contacts up-to-date.
Switch User
: Tap the Switch User box to change the current MSN
