d-Limonene: Oral rat LD50: >5 g/kg
Skin rabbit LD50: >5 g/kg
Propylene Glycol Methyl Ether: Oral rat LD50: 7,200 mg/kg
Skin rabbit LD50: 13,000 mg/kg
Amphoteric Surfactant: Oral rat LD50: 5-15 g/kg
Trisodium Nitrilotriacetate: Oral rat LD50: 1,100 mg/kg
Nitrilotriacetic acid and its salts have been classified as “possibly carcinogenic to humans” (Group
2B) by IARC and “reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen” by NTP.
2-Butoxyethanol has been found to be mutagenic in bacteria (S. typhimurium). Trisodium
Nitrilotriacetate has tested positive in some mutagenic assays.
Amphoteric surfactant has been shown to cause skin sensitization in tests with laboratory
animals.
2-Butoxyethanol has been found to cause adverse reproductive effects in laboratory animals (both
effects on fertility and developmental abnormalities by inhalation and oral routes). Sodium salts of
EDTA and propylene glycol methyl ether have been reported to cause birth defects in animals at
doses not expected in occupational exposures. These effects were observed only at levels that were
toxic to the mother.
