The envelope module
The most common envelope modules use 4 settings that can vary:
• The Attack is the time that the sound will take to reach its maximum
volume once the key has been pressed on the keyboard.
• The Decay is the time that the sound will take to decline after the key
is played.
• The Sustain is the maximum level of volume that the sound will reach
when a key is pressed.
• The Release is the decline time after the key has been released.
The ARP 2600 V also offers a second simplified envelope (Attack, Release).
The envelope generator can also be used to modulate other settings, like the
filter cut-off frequency or the frequency of an oscillator for example.
