Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the Asanté FriendlyNET GX5 Gigabit
Ethernet switch.The GX5 switch is simply the most affordable,
powerful Gigabit Ethernet solution for connecting desktops,
high-performance servers and workstations.
This GX5 switch has the following key features:
■ Complies with IEEE802.3, IEEE802.3x, IEEE802.3u, and IEEE802.3ab
■ 4/13/24-port Gigabit Ethernet switch depending on the model
■ 1 GBIC (Gigabit Ethernet Interface Converter) port, model
GX5-1300 only
■ 2 GBIC (Gigabit Ethernet Interface Converter) ports, model
GX5-2400 only
■ Supports NWay 10/100/1000 Mbps speeds on all RJ-45 ports
■ Supports Auto MDI/MDIX (Auto-Uplink™) on all
10/100/1000 Mbps RJ-45 ports
■ Wire speed reception and transmission
■ All models support IEEE 802.3x Flow Control

Diagnostic LEDs
Monitor the status of your network with these LED indicators:
1. Power: Solid green when the switch is powered on and
ready for use.
2. 1000 Mbps: Green LED on when a valid 1000 Mbps link
has been established.
3. 100 Mbps: Green LED on when a valid 100Mbps link has
been established; LED off when there is no link or the port
is connected at 10Mbps.
4. Link/Activity: Green LED on when a valid link has been
established; flashes when data is being transmitted or
received.

1. Power: Solid Green on when the switch is power on and
ready for use.
2. 1000 Mbps: Green LED on when a valid 1000 Mbps link
has been established.
3. 100 Mbps: Green LED on when a valid 10/100Mbps link
has been established; off when there is no link or the port
is connected at 10 Mbps.
4. Link/Activity: Green LED on when a valid link has been
established; flashes when data is being transmitted or
received.
5. Duplex: Green LED on when the port is running in full-
duplex mode; LED flashes when the port is running in
half-duplex mode and collision is occuring.
