REAR PANEL FACILITIES
D.C. SUPPLY SOCKET
The rear panel of the ACOUSTIC CUBE contains the
D.C.SUPPLY input socket. This is for connection to the
supplied external power supply for the amplier. Use
ONLY the supplied ASHDOWN external power supply
adaptor with this amplier. Use of any other power
supply adaptor may cause malfunction or damage to
the amplier.
POWER SWITCH
Once you have checked the external power supply
adaptor is connected to the correct supply voltage
and its cable is plugged into the D.C.SUPPLY socket
securely then the unit can be powered up by moving
the power switch to its ‘On position. This will be
indicated by the front panel PWR LED illuminating.
EFFECTS SEND/RETURN
The EFFECTS SEND/RETURN facility is a serial eects
loop and is situated after the EQ controls and SHAPE
switch but before the internal reverb. In this way it
is possible to add the internal reverb to the sound
returned from any external eects being used. These
sockets are used for patching other eects units into
the system. The EFFECTS SEND socket can also be
used to take a Post EQ but Pre Eects signal to another
amplication system if required.
LINE OUT/LINK
This is a special kind of connection as it can be used to
provide a LINE OUT signal if required but can also be
used as a LINE IN or ‘LINK’ to another ACOUSTIC CUBE
or POWER CUBE. This is an idea I developed when I
rst designed the Trace Acoustic range of amplier
products – What it means is that with one jack to jack
cable connected between the ‘LINK’ sockets on two
CUBES you end up with the signals from both pre-
amps being sent to the output stages and speakers in
both CUBES.
This can be done with 2 ACOUSTIC CUBES or an
ACOUSTIC CUBE and a POWER CUBE connected
together. A unique idea: also very useful method of
expanding your system in a low cost and easy way.
BALANCED D.I. XLR
The D.I. XLR socket is a balanced output for Direct
Injection or connection to a low impedance
microphone input on a mixing console. This can be
used either for recording purposes or for connection
to a PA system for live performance. The D.I. socket is
Post EQ and also includes all facilities on the ACOUSTIC
CUBE i.e. the NOTCH, the SHAPE, the REVERB and any
external eects used.
MICROPHONE STAND MOUNTING
Both the ACOUSTIC CUBE and the POWER CUBE
are tted with an adapter in the base of the unit to
allow them to be mounted to the top of a standard
microphone stand. This is very useful for providing ear
level monitoring of your instrument and also it lifts
the amplier above the level of the instrument which
further reduces the possibility of acoustic feedback
occurring.
With an ACOUSTIC CUBE mounted on a mic stand
one side of you and a POWER CUBE (LINKED to the
ACOUSTIC CUBE ) on the other side, you have a very
substantial and satisfying sound system for personal
monitoring and more than sucient for small venues.
DC CONNECTOR
This is for the use of an external 9v, stabilised power
adaptor in place of the internal 9v battery. Inserting a
DC connector into this socket disconnects the internal
battery.
OUTPUT JACK SOCKET
This jack socket carries the signal from the output of
the unit to a suitable amplier. The level of signal can
be adjusted using the OUTPUT control on the front
panel.
LINE IN /MP3
The LINE IN jack socket can be used for any line level
signal such as that from another pre-amplier, CD,
MP3 etc. and has a level control (AA100).
