4. BIOS SETUP

Advanced Menu

Turbo mode [Disabled]

In JumperFree mode, this field will appear when you use only one 128Mbit RIMM

module that has no more than 8 RDRAM devices (with a maximum capacity of

256MBytes ) with one C-RIMM module on the motherboard. When [Enabled] is

selected, RDRAM frequency will be boosted to 4 times of the CPU External (FSB)

Freq. (MHz). For example, if you select 133MHz for the CPU external frequency, the

RIMM module will be running at 533MHz in turbo mode.

Warning! Overclocked memory might cause your system to hang during system

bootup; if that happens, power OFF your system and restart.

RDRAM Frequency (MHz) [Auto]

This feature tells the clock generator what frequency to send to the RDRAM. The

default setting [Auto] seeks to balance optimal performance with stability. The other

options displayed in the popup menu vary according to the CPU External Fre-

quency. NOTE: This field will not appear when [Turbo mode] is enabled.

CPU Level 1 Cache, CPU Level 2 Cache [Enabled]

These fields allow you to choose from the default of [Enabled] or choose [Disabled]

to turn on or off the CPU’s Level 1 and Level 2 built-in cache. Configuration op-

tions: [Disabled] [Enabled]

CPU Level 2 Cache ECC Check [Disabled]

This function controls the ECC capability in the CPU level 2 cache. Configuration

options: [Disabled] [Enabled]

Processor Serial Number [Disabled]

The Processor Serial Number is a unique number that is added to every Pentium III

processor to help verify the identity of the user across the Internet. Set this field to

[Enabled] when you need increased security for doing business online or e-com-

merce. Otherwise, leave it to its default setting of [Disabled] for greater anonymity

when surfing the Internet. NOTE: This field is available only when a Pentium III

processor is installed in your system.

BIOS Update [Enabled]

This functions as an update loader integrated into the BIOS to supply the processor

with the required data. In the default position of [Enabled], the BIOS will load the

update on all processors during system bootup. Configuration options: [Disabled]

[Enabled]

PS/2 Mouse Function Control [Auto]

The default of [Auto] allows the system to detect a PS/2 mouse on startup. If de-

tected, IRQ12 will be used for the PS/2 mouse. IRQ12 will be reserved for expan-

sion cards only if a PS/2 mouse is not detected. [Enabled] will always reserve IRQ12,

whether on startup a PS/2 mouse is detected or not. Configuration options: [En-
