Importing or Clearing a Foreign Conguration
A foreign conguration is a storage conguration that already exists on a
replacement set of drives that you install in a computer system. In addition, if one
or more drives are removed from a conguration, by a cable pull or drive removal,
for example, the conguration on those drives is considered a foreign conguration
by the RAID controller.
The WebBIOS CU allows you to import the foreign conguration to the RAID
controller, or to clear the conguration so you can create a new conguration using
these drives.
When you create a new conguration, the WebBIOS CU shows only the
uncongured drives. Drives that have existing congurations, including foreign
congurations, do not appear. To use drives with existing congurations, you
must rst clear the conguration on those drives.
