Importing or Clearing a Foreign Conguration
A foreign conguration is a storage conguration that already exists on a
replacement set of drives that you install in a computer system. In addition, if one
or more drives are removed from a conguration, by a cable pull or drive removal,
for example, the conguration on those drives is considered a foreign conguration
by the RAID controller.
The WebBIOS CU allows you to import the foreign conguration to the RAID
controller, or to clear the conguration so you can create a new conguration using
these drives.
When you create a new conguration, the WebBIOS CU shows only the
uncongured drives. Drives that have existing congurations, including foreign
congurations, do not appear. To use drives with existing congurations, you
must rst clear the conguration on those drives.
