Chapter 2: Hardware Setup

2.5 Hard disk drives
The ESC8000 G3 system supports hot-swap 2.5-inch SATA/SAS hard disk drives. The hard
disk drive installed on the drive tray connects to the motherboard SATA/SAS ports via the
SATA/SAS backplane.
To install a 2.5-inch HDD:
1. Press the spring lock to release the tray lever (A) and to partially eject the tray from the
bay (B).
2. Firmly hold the tray lever and carefully pull the drive tray out of the bay.
2.5.1 Installing 2.5-inch SATA HDD/SAS HDD
4. Release the screws on each side of the drive tray (A) then release the drive tray
support beam (B).
The drive tray support beam provides horizontal support to the empty drive tray and
prevents the drive tray from being bent or deformed.
