1 Product Introduction 1.1 Before you proceed Take note of the following precautions before you install motherboard components or change any motherboard settings. 1.2 • Unplug the power cord from the wall socket before touching any component. • Before handling components, use a grounded wrist strap or touch a safely grounded object or a metal object, such as the power supply case, to avoid damaging them due to static electricity.
1.2.1 Layout contents 1. CPU socket The motherboard comes with a surface mount Intel® Socket LGA1700 designed for 12th Gen Intel® Core™, Pentium® Gold and Celeron® Processors. For more details, refer to Central Processing Unit (CPU). 2. DDR5 DIMM slots The motherboard comes with Dual Inline Memory Modules (DIMM) slots designed for DDR5 (Double Data Rate 5) memory modules. For more details, refer to System memory. 3. Expansion slots The Fan headers allow you to connect fans to cool the system.
7. SATA 6Gb/s ports The SATA 6Gb/s ports allow you to connect SATA devices such as optical disc drives and hard disk drives via SATA cables. 8. USB 3.2 Gen 1 connector (supports USB Type-C®) The USB 3.2 Gen 1 connector (USB Type-C ) allows you to connect a USB 3.2 Gen 1 module for an additional USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C® port. Connect the serial port module cables to these headers, then install the modules to slot openings at the back of the system chassis. COM_DEBUG PIN 1 15. Intel ME jumper ® This jumper allows you to enable or disable the Intel® ME function. Set this jumper to pins 1-2 to enable (default) the Intel® ME function and to pins 1 2-3 to disable it.
20. Speaker header R_OUTR_OUT+ This internal Mono-out header allows connection to an internal, low power speaker for basic system sound capability. The subsystem is capable of driving a speaker load of 3 Watts RMS at 4 Ohms. MONO-OUT PIN 1 SPEAKER +5V GND GND Speaker Out 19. 1.2.2 Rear panel connectors 1 2 7 1. 3 8 4 5 9 10 6 PS/2 Mouse (green) port. This port is for a PS/2 mouse. 2. DisplayPorts. These ports are for DisplayPort-compatible devices. 3. USB 3.2 Gen 2 (up to 10Gbps) ports. These Universal Serial Bus (USB) ports are for USB 3.2 Gen 2 devices. 4. Ethernet port. This port allows Gigabit connection to a Local Area Network (LAN) through a network hub. Refer to the table below for the Ethernet port LED indications.
8. HDMI® port. This port is for a High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI®) connector, and is HDCP compliant allowing playback of HD DVD, Blu-ray, and other protected content. 9. USB 2.0 ports. These Universal Serial Bus (USB) port are for USB 2.0 devices. 10. Microphone port (pink). This port connects a microphone. Refer to the audio configuration table for the function of the audio ports in 2, 4, 5.1, or 7.1-channel configuration. Audio 2, 4, 5.1 or 7.
1.3 Central Processing Unit (CPU) This motherboard comes with a surface mount Intel® Socket LGA1700 for 12th Gen Intel® Core™, Pentium® Gold and Celeron® Processors. Unplug all power cables before installing the CPU. • Ensure that you install the correct CPU designed for LGA1700 socket only. DO NOT install a CPU designed for LGA1155, LGA1156, LGA1151, and LGA1200 sockets on the LGA1700 socket.

1.4 System memory This motherboard comes with four Double Data Rate 5 (DDR5) Dual Inline Memory Module (DIMM) sockets. The figure illustrates the location of the DDR5 DIMM sockets: DIMM_A1 DIMM_A2 DIMM_B1 DIMM_B2 Channel Sockets Channel A DIMM_A1 & DIMM_A2 Channel B DIMM_B1 & DIMM_B2 • You may install varying memory sizes in Channel A and Channel B. The system maps the total size of the lower-sized channel for the dual-channel configuration.

BIOS and RAID Support ASUS Self-Recovering BIOS 2 ASUS-exclusive BIOS protection technology automatically recovers the system’s BIOS with a verified backup in the event of an update failure, preventing the need to replace or reinstall your hardware.
2.2 • The BIOS setup screens shown in this section are for reference purposes only, and may not exactly match what you see on your screen. • Visit the ASUS website at www.asus.com to download the latest BIOS file for this motherboard. • If the system becomes unstable after changing any BIOS setting, load the default settings to ensure system compatibility and stability. Select the Load Optimized Defaults item under the Exit menu or press hotkey F5.

2.4 Exit menu The Exit menu items allow you to load the optimal default values for the BIOS items, and save or discard your changes to the BIOS items. Load Optimized Defaults This option allows you to load the default values for each of the parameters on the Setup menus. When you select this option or if you press , a confirmation window appears. Select OK to load the default values.
2.5 RAID configurations The motherboard comes with the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology that supports RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5 and RAID 10 configuration. For more information on configuring your RAID sets, please refer to the RAID Configuration Guide which you can find at https://www.asus.com/support, or by scanning the QR code. RAID definitions RAID 0 (Data striping) optimizes two identical hard disk drives to read and write data in parallel, interleaved stacks.
