About this manual This manual provides information about the hardware and software features of your PC , organized through the following chapters: Chapter 1: Getting to know your VivoPC This chapter details the hardware components of your VivoPC . 1 Getting to know your VivoPC
Features Front Top cover The removable top cover allows you access to the hard disk drive and the memory modules. Audio speakers Your VivoPC uses SonicMaster technology to provide hi-fi sound quality, with richer bass sounds, straight from the built-in audio speakers. Drive activity indicator This indicator lights up when your VivoPC is accessing the internal storage drive.
Left side Air vents The air vents on the left side allows cooler air to enter your VivoPC chassis. IMPORTANT: For an optimum heat dissipation and air ventilation, ensure that the air vents are free from obstructions.
Rear Power button The power button allows you to turn the VivoPC on or off. You can also use the power button to put your VivoPC to sleep mode. Memory card slot The built-in memory card reader enables your PC to read and write data to and from MMC/SD cards. Top cover lock latch + Kensington security slot The top cover lock latch fastens the top cover on your VivoPC. The Kensington security slot allows you to secure your VivoPC using Kensington® security products. USB 2.
Display (Monitor) Output The 15-pin D-sub monitor port supports a standard VGAcompatible device such as a monitor or projector to allow viewing on a larger external display. LAN port The eight-pin RJ-45 LAN port supports a standard Ethernet cable for connection to a local network. Line-in port The line-in port allows you to connect an external audio device such as an audio mixer, disc player, cassette tape player, or an additional microphone.
Rear air vents The air vents on the rear allow warm air to exit the VivoPC. IMPORTANT: For an optimum heat dissipation and air ventilation, keep the air vents at least 10cm away from any obstructions. Power input (DC 19V) The supplied power adapter converts AC power to DC power for use with this jack. Power supplied through this jack supplies power to the PC. To prevent damage to the PC, always use the supplied power adapter. WARNING! The power adapter may become warm to hot when in use.
Using your VivoPC 2
Getting started Connect the AC power adapter to your VivoPC To connect the AC power adapter to your VivoPC: A. Connect the AC power cord to the AC/DC adapter. B. Plug the AC power cord into a 100V~240V power source. C. Connect the DC power connector into your VivoPC’s power (DC) input port. NOTE: The power adapter may vary in appearance, depending on models and your region.
IMPORTANT! • We strongly recommend that you use only the AC power adapter and cable that came with your VivoPC. • We strongly recommend that you use a grounded wall socket while using your VivoPC. • The socket outlet must be easily accessible and near your VivoPC. • To disconnect your VivoPC from its main power supply, unplug your VivoPC from the power socket. NOTE: Power adapter information: • Input voltage: 100-240Vac • Input frequency: 50-60Hz • Rating output current: 3.
Connect a display panel to your VivoPC You can connect a display panel or projector to your VivoPC that has the following connectors: • HDMI connector • D-Sub connector • DVI connector (use with an HDMI to DVI adapter or VGA to DVI adapter) NOTE: The HDMI to DVI adapter and VGA to DVI adapter are sold separately. To connect a display panel to your VivoPC: Connect a display cable either to the HDMI port or the VGA display port.
Connect the USB cable from keyboard or mouse You can connect generally any USB keyboard and mouse to your VivoPC. You can also connect a USB dongle for a wireless keyboard and mouse set. To connect a keyboard and mouse to your VivoPC: Connect the USB cable from your keyboard and mouse, to any of the USB 2.0 ports of your VivoPC. Connect keyboard or mouse via USB 2.
Turn on your Vivo PC Press the power button to turn on your VivoPC.
Turning your VivoPC off If your VivoPC is unresponsive, press and hold the power button for at least four (4) seconds until your VivoPC turns off. Putting your VivoPC to sleep To put your VivoPC on Sleep mode, press the Power button once. Entering the BIOS Setup BIOS (Basic Input and Output System) stores system hardware settings that are needed for system startup in the VivoPC. In normal circumstances, the default BIOS settings apply to most conditions to ensure optimal performance.
Quickly enter the BIOS To quickly enter the BIOS: • Press the power button for at least four (4) seconds to shut down your VivoPC, then press the power button again to turn your VivoPC back on, then press or during POST. • When your PC is off, disconnect the power cord from your VivoPC’s power connector. Reconnect the power cable and press the power button to turn on your VivoPC. Press or during POST.

Upgrading hard disk drives You can either install a 3.5-inch Serial ATA hard disk drive (HDD) or a 2.5-inch SSD in your VivoPC. When installing a 2.5-inch SSD, use the bundled 2.5-inch SSD to 3.5inch drive tray adapter to conveniently secure your 2.5-inch SSD to the VivoPC's 3.5-inch drive bay. Installing a 3.5-inch Serial ATA HDD To install a 3.5-inch Serial ATA HDD: HD D 22 1. Turn off your VivoPC. 2. Disconnect all cables and peripherals. 3. Place the VivoPC on a stable and flat surface. 4.
D 6. 3.5” HD Remove the cover and set aside. Serial ATA connector Serial ATA HDD drive bay 7. Prepare a 3.5-inch Serial ATA HDD, the bundled four (4) black screws, and the bundled four (4) rubber heads for the black screws. NOTE: The availability and quantity of these items vary with your VivoPC package. 8. Match and insert the black screws into the rubber heads.
9. Attach the black screws with rubber heads into the screw holes on the Serial ATA HDD. 10. Position the Serial ATA HDD on top of the drive bay to an orientation where the HDD’s SATA connectors are aligned to the SATA connector in the VivoPC drive bay. 11. Match the rubber heads of the black screws with the four screw slots on the drive bay. 12. Carefully, place the Serial ATA HDD into the drive bay, then slide the drive towards the SATA connector.
13. Ensure that the Serial ATA HDD is securely seated in place and the SATA connectors are connected properly. 14. Replace the top cover then slide it towards the front of VivoPC to re-attach.
15. Lock the latch to securely fasten the top cover to the chassis.
Installing a 2.5-inch SSD Before you start, prepare the following items: • 2.5-inch to 3.5-inch drive tray adapter • Four (4) pieces of SSD screws • Three (3) pieces of black screws • Three (3) pieces of rubber heads for the black screws • 2.5-inch SSD with the desired volume, speed or capacity (purchased separately) NOTE: The availability and quantity of these items vary with your VivoPC package. To install a 2.5-inch SSD: 1. Turn off your VivoPC. 2. Disconnect all cables and peripherals. 3.
D D 5. Slide the top cover towards the rear of VivoPC until it is detached from the chassis. 6. Remove the cover and set aside. 3.5” HD HD 3.
7. Position the SSD to the 2.5-inch slot on the underside of drive tray adapter and orient it in such way that the SSD SATA connectors are aligned towards the edge of drive tray adapter. Ensure that the SSD is placed with its bottom aligned to the underside of drive tray adapter and its SATA connectors are exposed (as shown.) 9. Match and insert each of the black screws into the rubber heads. 10. Attach the black screws with rubber heads into the available screw holes on the drive tray adapter (as indicated below).
11. Position the drive tray adapter (with SSD) assembly on top of the drive bay to an orientation where the SSD’s SATA connectors are aligned to the SATA connector in the VivoPC drive bay. 12. Match the rubber heads of the black screws with the three (3) screw slots on the drive bay. 13. Carefully, place the drive tray adapter (with SSD) into the drive bay, then slide the drive tray towards the SATA connector. 15. Replace the top cover then slide it towards the front of VivoPC to re-attach. 16. Lock the latch to securely fasten the top cover to the chassis.
Upgrading memory modules Your VivoPC comes with two SO-DIMM memory slots that allows you to install two 2 GB, 4 GB, or 8GB unbuffered with non-ECC DDR3 SO-DIMMs (204 pin), for a maximum of 16 GB memory. IMPORTANT: • For optimum performance, install identical DDR3 (SO-DIMM) modules only. • Always install SO-DIMMs with the same CAS latency. NOTE: Your VivoPC comes with one (1) pre-installed DDR3 (SODIMM) module. To install or upgrade the memory modules: 1. Turn off your VivoPC. 2.

7. Prepare memory module. 8. Release the screw that secures the SO-DIMM slot cover, then pry the slot cover open. HD Memory Memory 9. Align and insert the memory module into the slot (A) and press it down (B), until it is securely seated in place.
10. Replace the SO-DIMM slot cover and secure it with the screw. 11. Replace the top cover then slide it towards the front of VivoPC to re-attach.
12. Lock the latch to securely fasten the top cover to the chassis.

Safety information Your VivoPC is designed and tested to meet the latest standards of safety for information technology equipment. However, to ensure your safety, it is important that you read the following safety instructions. Setting up your system • • • • • • Read and follow all instructions in the documentation before you operate your system. Do not use this product near water or a heated source. Set up the system on a stable surface. Openings on the chassis are for ventilation.
Lithium-Ion Battery Warning CAUTION: Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer. Dispose of used batteries according to the manufacturer’s instructions. France Restricted Wireless Frequency Bands Some areas of France have a restricted frequency band. The worst case maximum authorized power indoors are: • • 10mW for the entire 2.4 GHz band (2400 MHz–2483.5 MHz) 100mW for frequencies between 2446.5 MHz and 2483.5 MHz NOTE: Channels 10 through 13 inclusive operate in the band 2446.6 MHz to 2483.5 MHz.
