inChannelCandChannelD.Thesystemmapsthetotalsizeofthelower-sized
channelforthedual-channelconguration.Anyexcessmemoryfromthehigher-sized
channelisthenmappedforsingle-channeloperation.

Core™X-SeriesProcessors(6-coreorabove),youmayinstallvarying
memorysizesinChannelA,ChannelB,ChannelC,andChannelD.Thesystem
mapsthetotalsizeofthelower-sizedchannelforthequad-channelconguration.
Anyexcessmemoryfromthehigher-sizedchannelisthenmappedforsingle-channel
operation.
• ThedefaultmemoryoperationfrequencyisdependentonitsSerialPresenceDetect
(SPD),whichisthestandardwayofaccessinginformationfromamemorymodule.
Underthedefaultstate,somememorymodulesforoverclockingmayoperateata
lowerfrequencythanthevendor-markedvalue.
• Forsystemstability,useamoreefcientmemorycoolingsystemtosupportafull
memoryload(8DIMMs)oroverclockingcondition.
• AlwaysinstalltheDIMMSwiththesameCASLatency.Foranoptimumcompatibility,
werecommendthatyouinstallmemorymodulesofthesameversionordatacode
(D/C)fromthesamevendor.Checkwiththevendortogetthecorrectmemory
modules.
