tip/ring Contacts and associated conductors of a single-line
telephone
plug or jack.
touch-tone receiver
See TTR.
T/R
See tip/ring.
trunk A telecommunications path between the
communications system and the telephone company
central office (CO) or another switch. Often used
synonymously with line.
trunk jack
See line/trunk jack.
trunk pool
See pool.
TTR (touch-tone receiver) Device used to decode DTMF
touch-tones dialed from single-line telephones or
Remote Access telephones.
uninterruptible
power supply
See UPS.
unit load Measure of the power load drain of a module,
telephone, or adjunct.
UPS (uninterruptible power supply) Device that connects
to the system to provide 117 VAC to the equipment
when the commercial power source fails.
