KickbackandRelatedWarnings
Kickbackisasuddenreactiontoapinchedorsnaggedrotatingwheel,backingpad,brushoranyother
accessory.Pinchingorsnaggingcausesrapidstallingoftherotatingaccessorywhichinturncausesthe
uncontrolledpowertooltobeforcedinthedirectionoppositeoftheaccessory’srotationatthepoint
ofthe
binding.
Forexample,ifanabrasivewheelissnaggedorpinchedbytheworkpiece,theedgeofthewheelthatis
enteringintothepinchpointcandigintothesurfaceofthematerialcausingthewheeltoclimboutorkick
out.Thewheelmayeither
jumptowardorawayfromtheoperator,dependingondirectionofthewheel’s
movementatthepointofpinching.Abrasivewheelsmayalsobreakundertheseconditions.
Kickbackistheresultofpowertoolmisuseand/orincorrectoperatingproceduresorconditionsandcanbe
avoidedbytakingproperprecautionsasgiven

SafetyWarningsSpecificforGrindingOperations:
a)Useonlywheeltypesthatarerecommendedforyourpowertoolandthespecificguarddesignedfor
theselectedwheel.Wheelsforwhichthepowertoolwasnotdesignedcannotbeadequatelyguarded
