Chapter 6 Daily Operating
Instructions
Incoming / Outgoing Calls
The user of the telephone may receive two types of telephone calls:
Regular calls from other people
The occasional call from the monitoring center computer.
The telephone will ring 6 times, during which, if the call is not answered, the
MEMS 3000 HomeStation will answer and then disconnect the call.
The following points should be adhered to with regard to incoming and
outgoing calls:
If, after answering the call, the user hears a light sound on the line,
this is normal as the MEMS 3000 HomeStation interacts with each
incoming call.
If, during a conversation, the user hears a short tune from the
MEMS 3000 HomeStation, the conversation should be completed
immediately. This indicates that the MEMS 3000 HomeStation
needs to call the monitoring center computer. The user should not
attempt to use the telephone for at least 10 minutes
If, after answering the call, the user hears a sharp modem sound on
the line, the phone should be hung-up immediately. This indicates
that the monitoring center computer is attempting to call the MEMS
3000 HomeStation. The user should not attempt to use the telephone
for at least 10 minutes.
