Dynamism and comfort were once opposites.
We’ve made the differences vanish into thin air.
Every road is different. How nice, then, to not
actually notice the difference! This is possible
thanks to the suspension fitted as standard on
the Audi S6, which adapts to many different driv-
ing situations and the road surface. We call it
adaptive air suspension. The system’s air springs
are controlled electronically and separately for
each of the four wheels, and are combined with
continuously adaptive damping. Sensors on the
body and axles keep the system informed of the
changing driving situation while the vehicle is on
the move. The air suspension also ensures the
car’s handling characteristics are virtually unaf-
fected even when heavily laden.
You start to experience the benefits of the adap-
tive air suspension sport system as soon as you
move off. But it really comes into its own through
bends, where body roll and pitch are reduced
considerably, and both the vibration characteris-
tics and spring travel are kept at an optimum. In
future, uneven roads will be seen but seldom felt.
The Audi S6 is equipped with the new adaptive air
suspension sport system that has been specially
tuned for the S6. It is controlled with Audi drive
select, and is already set up for sportier perfor-
mance in auto mode. At speeds above 120 km/h,
the suspension is lowered by 10 millimetres.
Fully load-bearing air springs at the
vehicle’s front and rear axles produce
a sporty yet comfortable ride.
