Audi Q7 5 Until now we have been building quattro® for our cars. With the Audi Q7 we’ve built a car for quattro. Sometimes, a single question is enough to change the world: why can’t you enjoy the outstanding driving features of an all-wheel drive in a passenger car? This thought occurred to the Audi engineers while they were out testing the four-by-four Iltis. From this simple question came the idea for a permanent all-wheel drive suitable for standard production: quattro was born.
Audi Q7 7 To take you on further, the Audi Q7 skilfully uses all of its power. Its innovative quattro drive concept takes care of this. The permanent all-wheel drive distributes the drive forces variably to the front and rear axle. Always just as it is required for the particular driving situation. Audi Q7 The Electronic Stabilisation Control (ESC) supports quattro in the Audi Q7. It was especially extended to include a selectable offroad mode for the Audi Q7. With this, the ESC ensures even more traction and braking power when off-road – and above all, even more fun. The optional adaptive air suspension ensures even more independence (standard for Q7 4.2 TDI quattro and Q7 V12 TDI quattro). It directly intervenes in damping the individual wheels.
Audi Q7 Thanks to TFSI and TDI technology, the Audi Q7 deploys its tremendous power and dynamism over practically the entire engine speed range. As a measure to increase efficiency and reduce consumption and CO₂ emissions, recuperation is available for all the Audi Q7’s 6- and 8-cylinder engines. Audi Q7 The design of the Audi Q7 sets new standards. In tune with Audi tradition. The dynamic roof line and high shoulder section bring the sporty form of a coupé to mind. The powerful front with distinctive, chrome-framed Audi Singleframe and vertical chrome struts arouses self-confidence and radiates a sense of presence.

Audi Q7 Multifunctionality does not have to be complicated, as the Multi Media Interface (MMI) proves. The central control system of the high-performance SUV gives you rapid access to important vehicle information and functions. The generous feeling of space is accentuated with the right sound experience.
Audi Q7 New freedom: the multifunctional seat and loading concept offers you up to 27 different configuration options. So you always have exactly as many seats and as much space as you require. As an equipment variant you can choose between two or three rows of seats. Within these equipment variants, you can then choose again: you can equip the second row with comfort seats, turning the Audi Q7 into a 6-seater, which is then equipped with an additional generous centre console.
Audi Q7 Sometimes you just cannot decide what to take with you. The Audi Q7 therefore grants you all the freedom you could require. Unique in its class, it offers 775 litres of luggage space behind the second row of seats. The load area comprises all of 330 litres when there are seven people in the vehicle. Audi Q7 V12 TDI quattro 29 On the racing track, our engines regularly astonish the world. And that is no different on the road. 2006. The first victory of a racing car with a diesel engine at the legendary Le Mans 24 hours. The car: an Audi R10 TDI. Audi was able to continue its series of victories in the years 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011. The Audi Q7 V12 TDI quattro was built using this motor racing experience: it is the logical evolution of a trail-blazing vehicle.
Audi Q7 V12 TDI quattro The first V12 diesel engine in the world in a standard production model. Thus begins a new chapter in the history of the diesel engine. With the 6.0 litre TDI engine, Audi is once again demonstrating its “Vorsprung durch Technik”. The Audi Q7 V12 TDI quattro reaches its maximum torque of 1,000 Nm at a mere 1,750 rpm and keeps it stable up to 3,250 rpm. This means excellent performance is at your disposal from an early stage and over a wide range.
Audi Q7 V12 TDI quattro At the rear, special features include oval tailpipes, LED rear lights and a specially designed bumper. The stainless steel underbody protection at the front and rear makes a clearly visible statement.

The supercharger is a central element in boost pressure generation. Or, put another way, it ensures outstanding torque even at low engine speeds. The supercharger is a highly integrated, mechanical charging module situated between the two cylinder banks. The rotor unit, the electrically controlled butterfly valve in the bypass bend and the engine-side heat exchanger of the indirect charge air cooling system are integrated in one single-piece cast metal housing.
TDI® The injectors open and close in fractions of a millisecond and inject fuel several times into the combustion chamber at pressures of up to 2,000 bar. In some cases, an injection process can involve the injection of the tiniest of amounts weighing less than a thousandth of a gram. Pre-injection results in a “gentle” combustion process and consequently excellent combustion acoustics and agreeable engine running characteristics.

The V12 engine is characterised by its superb smooth-running performance. 368 kW accelerate the Audi Q7 V12 TDI quattro from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds. 6 litre displacement – more than you have ever had before in an Audi Q7. That creates space for power. So much power – with comparatively low fuel consumption. The Audi Q7 V12 TDI quattro consumes 11.3 litres of fuel (combined) per 100 km.
quattro® Why only use two wheels when a car has four? The quattro® permanent all-wheel drive. Those who know Audi know quattro. And once you have driven with quattro, you do not want to drive with anything else. Why? Because this drive puts the engine’s power on the road in such a convincing way. quattro is a permanent all-wheel drive.
The quattro drivetrain
Suspension Dynamics and comfort were once opposites. With Audi adaptive air suspension they are united. Can the road communicate with the suspension? And above all: can the suspension understand the road? In the Audi Q7 and Audi Q7 V12 TDI quattro it can – the suspension adapts to the driving situation and the road (standard from 250 kW) as well as possible. We call it Audi adaptive air suspension.
The advantages of the Audi adaptive air suspension can be felt after just a few metres. And then most certainly when you drive round a corner or bend. The rolling or pitching motions of the body are substantially reduced, the vibration behaviour and the spring travel remain optimal. In future, you may still be able to see uneven roads, but you will feel them less.
Brake systems Nothing can stop a top athlete. Except for a top braking system. The 18-inch high-performance braking system in the Audi Q7 takes a powerful hold with its 6-piston fixed callipers on the front axle. A single-piston floating calliper is used on the rear axle. The brake discs comprise a cast friction ring which is connected to the brake disc chamber by means of steel pins.
20-inch ceramic brake* 18-inch steel brake The brake discs on the front axle have a diameter of 350 mm and are 34 mm thick. Audi connect Research project: “Audi Urban Mobility” 54 Unmanned to the summit. How useful it can be to network a vehicle with its environment is demonstrated by the research project “Audi Urban Mobility”. As part of this project, a vehicle was created based on the Audi TTS. In September 2010, this vehicle managed to climb the 20-kilometre Pikes Peak road in the Rocky Mountains unaided and without a driver. The project featured an electronics system that helps drivers to avoid hazardous situations.

The MMI is used to control a wide variety of media in the car, as well as the navigation system and other convenience functions.

Audi side assist* informs you from speeds of 30 km/h and above with a signal in the exterior mirror as soon as the system detects another vehicle in the adjacent lane.
