General Information

It can be difficult to take an infant’s temperature because
they are usually wrapped up in blankets or clothes. Push
aside any clothing or blankets covering the neck area for
30 seconds or so and repeat the measurement. If you feel
that the temperature behind the ear lobe is too low, or if
there is no perspiration, compare the reading with the fore-
head temperature reading at least once.
Sweating causes extra cooling of the skin, which results in
an incorrectly low reading. For this reason, it is not recom-
mended to take the temperature after wiping the forehead.
Wait about 30 seconds before measuring the same area
again to prevent excessive cooling of the skin.
Temperature Ranges
Body temperature means the body’s internal temperature. The
normal temperature of even a healthy person varies a little
within a short range. The temperature of a person measured
in the evening is normally 0.5 ºC higher than in the early mor-
ning. It can also be affected by the environment, time and
activity. Refer to the picture below to determine the normal
body temperature ranges.
