6 Answering Machine
Your telephone answering machine (TAM) is operated directly on the base
station.
The answering machine is equipped with vocal operator
guidance. Observe the instructions and information provided.
You can interrupt and stop processes at any time and return to
Standby mode by pressing the button. This button is also
referred to as the Antwort−Taste" in the vocal operator gui-
dance.
Setting the language
The answering machine’s vocal output is German and cannot be changed.

The display goes out when the answering machine is switched off.
If the answering machine is switched on,
0 (Answer−Record mode) or

(Answer Only mode) appears in the display when no new record-
ings have been made.
When new messages are recorded; Section Message waiting indica-
tor".
Setting the weekday and time
The weekday and time of receipt are announced when each message is
played back.
Complete the settings as follows:
Setting the weekday: Monday = 01, Tuesday = 02, Wednesday = 03,
Thursday = 04, Friday = 05, Saturday = 06, Sunday = 07
Setting the hour: 00 to 23
Setting the minute: 00 to 59

Activate the setting mode.
The current time is announced.
To end the vocal operator guidance prematurely and open the
setting mode directly, press the Menu button at this point
(optional).

Maximum recording time
The answering machine can store up to 50 messages. The maximum re-
cording time is 13 minutes. The maximum length of a message is 1 min-
ute. Messages, memos and outgoing messages of less than 1 second are
not recorded.
When the memory capacity for new messages is exhausted, no further
messages are recorded. The machine automatically switches to Answer
Only mode. A corresponding acoustic signal is issued and

in the display.
Setting the volume
The volume can be set to one of 8 different volume levels: from 0 to 7.

The volume cannot be completely switched off for playing back recordings
(messages, memos, outgoing messages and vocal operator guidance):
0 = quiet, 7 = loud. Press the Plus or Minus button while a recording is
being played or when Standby mode is active in order to adjust the vol-
ume.
