Cat6 & Cat7 Ethernet/Communication Cables
The convenience of wireless transmission of multi-room
audio and video comes at a steep qualitative price. Even
generic Ethernet cable oers audio performance that’s
clearly superior to the fastest, most robust wireless
networked-audio system. Moving beyond the limitations
of wireless, the specic cable matters too. Bulk data
transfers may not be appreciably aected by cable, but
lesser Ethernet cable does aect the real-time playback
quality of any Ethernet-based network-audio system.
AudioQuest oers multiple CAT600 (Cat6) and CAT700
(Cat7) bulk Ethernet cables for whole-house “electronic
plumbing,” as well as prepared RJ/E Ethernet cables.
While Cat6/CAT600 cables support network speeds
up to 1 Gigabit per second (Gbps), Cat7/CAT700 cables
support network speeds up to 100 Gbps at 100 meters
length. AudioQuest’s CAT700 and RJ/E prepared
Ethernet cables are all built on a Cat7 foundation, the
highest Cat standard.
In addition to many of AudioQuest’s hallmark materials
and techniques—solid conductors, superior metals,
conductor directionality control—the top Ethernet
models also feature extreme-performance Telegärtner
RJ45 connectors which employ a patented combination
of geometry and circuitry to minimize impedance-
mismatch distortion. The scale of this performance
dierence is slap-in-the-ears obvious and indicative of
the dierence all connectors and materials make. It’s
never just 1’s and 0’s, especially when it's your music!
