HINTS FOR CORRECT AND SAFE OPERATION The CDC-825 is designed to be operated only on 12 volt DC negative ground systems. The unit can not be used on 24 volt or positive ground systems. TEMPERATURE The unit may not operate correctly in extremely hot or cold temperatures. It is equipped with a built-in thermal protection circuit which will stop operation of the unit when the temperature reaches the pre-set level.
HANDLING THE DISCS Dirt, dust, scratches and warpage cause sound skips during playback and a deterioration of sound quality. To take proper care of your discs: 1. Use compact discs that have the mark shown on the right. 2. Fingerprints and dust should be carefully wiped off the disc's signal surface (glossy side) with a soft cloth. Unlike conventional records, the compact disc has no grooves to collect dust and microscopic debris, so gently wiping with a soft cloth should remove most particles.
USE OF THE CD MAGAZINE Label side up and playing side down CD magazine LOADING DISCS INTO THE MAGAZINE The CDC-825 CD Changer uses a specially-designed magazine to hold up to 10 compact discs. Insert discs into the magazine with the label side up as shown in Figure 1. As each disc is inserted into the magazine, the push-out knob for that slot will be raised as shown in Figure 2.
LOADING THE MAGAZINE INTO THE CHANGER Fig. 4 Completely slide the door on the changer to the right as shown in Figure 4. Making sure the top of the magazine is facing upward, gently insert it into the unit until it clicks into place, as shown in Figure 5. Slide the door of the changer fully closed and the unit is ready for operation. REMOVING THE MAGAZINE FROM THE CHANGER To remove the magazine, slide open the door on the changer and press the eject button as shown in Figure 6. Door Fig.
CD CHANGER OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS WIRED CONTROL UNIT The CDC-825 10-disc changer is designed to operate through the FM stereo section of your automotive sound system and therefore the adjustment of volume, balance, tone and other audio adjustments are made by using the controls on the car stereo. Control of disc play is by the control unit of the CDC-825 which can be conveniently mounted to the dashboard. The output signal from the unit is at either 89.1 or 88.7 MHz.
3 POWER OFF SWITCH (OFF) Press this switch to turn the CD changer off and return to normal FM reception. 4 DISC SELECT ( - +) Press this disc select button to select the desired disc for play as shown on the LCD panel. The unit will automatically load the selected disc and begin play. To advance to a higher number disc, press the + side of the button. To return to a lower number, press the - side.
of that disc will continue ("SCAN" and "DISC" will disappear from the display). Disc Scan mode will also be cancelled by activating any other function (Repeat, Shuffle, Disc Select, Track Skip, or Track Search). bl REMOTE SENSOR The sensor for the infrared signal from the optional wireless remote control is located behind this lens. For optimal operation of the remote control, keep the lens clean and do not allow objects to block it.
WIRELESS REMOTE CONTROL The CDC-10R Wireless Remote Control (optional) is capable of operating all functions of the wired control unit. Each button on the remote control functions in the same way as the comparable button on the wired control unit. For optimal operation of the remote control, always aim it toward the Remote Sensor on the control unit.
9 INFRARED SENDER The wireless signal from the remote control is sent from this lens. For optimal range and performance of the remote control, always aim the Sender at the Remote Sensor on the wired control unit. Do not let your finger interfere with the signal and make sure the lens does not become blocked by dirt, dust, etc. If necessary, clean the lens with a soft dry cloth or cotton swab. bl NOTES ON REMOTE CONTROL USE: The remote control operates on a 3 volt lithium battery (type CR-2025).
TROUBLESHOOTING An error made in operation or during installation of this product may be mistaken for a system malfunction. Please perform the checks described below before contacting your dealer or service facility. Symptom Possible Cause Remedy Blown fuse Check fuses in vehicle fuse box and changer system. Replace as necessary with fuse of same type and rating as original. If fuse blows again, consult with service facility. Incorrect connection Check all wiring and correct as necessary.
