* Warning
Do not allow the lug nut to bottom out on the stud shoulder or on the mounting surface,
this is an extremely dangerous and unsafe condition, as the torque of the lug nut is not
actually being applied to the wheel.
1. Lug nuts should be tightened in a criss-cross (star) pattern to insure uniform pres-
sure and alignment.
2. The use of impact wrenches is not recommended due to the possibility of irregular
tightening, thread stripping or inaccurate torque. Additionally, their use can mar the
finish of some wheels. A thin wall socket and torque wrench must be used for proper
installation.
3. Tighten all lug nuts to the vehicles owners manual recommendation or use the fol-
lowing torque specifications:
Custom Wheels
Custom wheels with the lug nuts covered by a cap use the same lug nut as OEM wheels.
Custom wheels with the lug nuts exposed use a special lug nut.
* Warning!
Lug nut torque for custom wheels must be checked at the 50 miles and after lug nuts are
removed for any reason.
The proper lug nut torque is as follows:
Torque Specifications
• Standard single wheel axle is 85 ft. Lb.
• Optional dual wheel axle with stainless steel wheel covers is 105 ft. Lb.
• Optional dual wheel axle with Alcoa aluminum wheels is 140 ft. Lb. These wheels utilize
a decorative plastic lug nut covers. To remove the 1 1/16” lug nut, remove the plastic
decorative covers first.
* Warning!
Failure to properly torque lug nuts at the prescribed intervals could result in the lug nuts
loosening and coming off, wheel loss, damage to the vehicle and serious personal injury or
death.
