Trouble Shooting Guide
Rear Slider Window
With this troubleshooting guide a technician’s responsibility is to:
1. Determine if there is power to the motor so it operates both directions (check fuse
and switch if there is no power)
2. Check the upper and lower channels the glass slides in for obstructions, or pinching
the upper track (trim interference). The track is easily removed to check opera-
tion.
3. Replace a drive system and/or upper track to repair a malfunctioning window.
4. On Ford and Dakota pickup trucks, be able to identify whether the Powerslider is a
gasket or glue-in installation.
5. Utilize the leak repair procedure if needed.
We do not require your technicians to disassemble drives and replace individual com-
ponents, as the complete drive is easily changes. 1992 - 1994 models require reat-
taching the cable to the glass with rear-view mirror adhesive (included with drive kit)
and 1995 - 1996 models feature a quick disconnect system allowing very easy re-
placement.
Micro Drive
Trouble Shooting / Replacement
* Note
These procedures are for windows manufactured with the micro drive system,
Not for retrofitting an earlier drive system.
* Note
Before exchanging a drive unit make sure you have checked power supply connections
at the motor, switch, ground, and check 20-amp fuse.
* Note
If the window only operates in one direction, check the switch with a test light.
* Note
If the motor runs, but the glass does not move, check to see of the attachment clip is
bonded to the glass.
1. Open Window - Cable connector must be past split in drive tube. Remove from at-
tachment clip. If there is binding assist by hand or remove motor to push open.
2. Remove screw from drive tube.
3. Slide drive tube section to expose attachment clip.
4. Release cable connector from attachment clip.
5. Pull cable-retaining clip from the drive tube. Insert a paper clip etc. In hole to pre-
vent losing clip.
6. Slide cable out of drive tube.
7. Slide cable by hand to verify glass slides freely.
8. If glass slides freely, remove drive unit from truck and install new drive unit.
9. If glass is binding or difficult to move by hand, inspect upper and lower tracks for
interference. Replace upper track if necessary, and correct trim interference if
pushing on upper track.
10. Drive unit is installed in reverse order.
