Powerslider Upper Glass Track
* Note
To determine if the upper track is defective, remove the track and run the window. If it
does not operate normally there is another problem.
* Note
This procedure does not require window removal
* Note
If you replace the upper track on an EPS880 Chevy/GMC, or EPS950 Ford glue in
Powerslider, make sure the interior trim does not push against the upper track. This will
collapse the track and can damage the drive unit. Install spacer blocks, loosen, or
modify the trim so it does not interfere.
1. With the glass in the open position, use pliers to pull the upper glass track out of the
window frame, slide the track out from over the top of the sliding glass.
2. Place the replacement track angled end into the window frame just in front of the
sliding glass. You will notice that the weather striping of the track is looped around
the square end cut of the track. Place your finger over the loop of the weather strip
while you slide the replacement track into the frame and over the top of the sliding
track.
3. Once the replacement track is in position, snap the track into the frame channel. Be
sure the track is flush to the vertical frame post and is snapped into the full depth of
the window channel. The glass track must be open for free movement of the sliding
glass, with no interference from the vehicle trim.
Leak Detection and Repair
General information
• Leaks should be fixed without removing the window (except gasket installation
leaks).
• Water and air leaks are handled the same.
• You must determine the cause of the leak to make the proper repair.
Leak types:
1. Installation - sealant leaks/ poorly installed gasket
2. Window seals/ Baffles - miscut or missing seals, missing or poorly aligned baf-
fles (water usually over flows inside the channel)
3. Truck body seams/cargo lights - poorly sealed roof seams, poorly installed cargo
lights (usually leaks from top corners or light)
• Run water over the top of the window frame to test for sealant leaks (1 - 2 minutes).
• If you cannot see a leak, apply soapy water around the window area and turn on the
A/C or fan on high and look for bubbles to form outside (normal around weep holes).
• It is normal for some water to enter the bottom channel of a sliding window. They
are designed to drain water - out.
• If water enters faster than it can drain there is likely a defective or missing seal on
the window.
