All auto manufacturers apply silicon to various interior components to forestall cracking
from cold and heat. The silicon base must be removed for tape backed product adher-
ence.
In vehicle production, manufacturers allow different tolerances for various components.
Though the make and model of any two vehicles may be the same, assembled compo-
nent tolerance may vary. Vehicle components can often be moved/ adjusted if required
to obtain a perfect fit.
If installation is to be over existing OEM wood dash, we recommended painting the
already installed factory wood dash piece (s) prior to the new installation. Carefully
mask area and paint a thin coat with a semi - gloss or flat lacquer black paint per
manufacturer instruction.
* WARNING
IF HEAT SOURCE IS USED FOR INSTALLATION, DO NOT OVER HEAT. Over heat-
ing may cause cracking and the temperature should not exceed that which would be
uncomfortable to facial skin (100 to 110 degrees f.) Heat should be applied to both the
front and back surface of the item.
Never bend apiece back and fort as this will wrinkle finish.
Never try to bend a dash piece without heating it first - severe damage may occur.
Never attempt to bend hardboard product.
