METAL FASTENERS:
1. Screws are used in a variety of products and applications include items that are
both taped and fastened with screws. Due to the extensive variety of materials, con-
ditions and product conditions and construction methods, torque values are not es-
tablished for screw on installations.
* NOTE
If item is combination screw and tape on, mount item as directed for tape on prior to in-
stalling screws.
2. Carefully locate and pre-drill all screw holes using 1/16 (.0625) dia, drill bit.
* NOTE
Extreme care must be taken when installing screws to prevent slipping of the driver and
damage to the finished surface to the product. If possible, position a thin hard plastic
guard in area of screw hole to absorb a possible slipped driver point impact.
3. Drive screw with minimum required pressure to start. Continue to tighten screw until
bottom of screw head contacts the material being installed. On counterbored screw
holes, the screw head will be bottomed when the screw head is flush or slightly be-
low surface. Once screw head has bottomed, back screw out (counter- clockwise)
1/4 of a turn. The slight back out of the screw is required to avoid damage to the
material from overstress, fatigue and other possible influencing conditions as vibra-
tion.
