A. Introduction Thank you for choosing the D1817PK. The main features include a 8" Wide Screen (16:9 Aspect Ratio) Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) monitor and a DVD player. The unit applies the latest state of the art electronics and is designed for use in hotels, offices, vehicles or your home. The unit is constructed to provide years of reliable, trouble-free service, and is compact so that you can take it with you anywhere and is designed for quick and easy installation.
Keep the unit away from an open flame such as fire, candle etc. Replace the battery only with the same or equivalent type to prevent damage to the unit. In order to protect the environment please dispose of the battery properly. Do not use the unit in temperatures higher than 104 degrees Fahrenheit or 40 degrees Celsius. 4. Disassembly Do not attempt to disassemble the cabinet. There is a risk of electric shock and/or exposure to Laser Radiation.

Vehicle Installation Installing the DVD Player onto the seat back in a car (Refer to Figure 2) Carry Bag Opened Carry Bag Closed Elastic Straps Vehicle Headrest Headrest Strap Seat Back Strap Vehicle Seat Back Figure 2 1). Unfold the carry bag, and place the DVD player on the bag beneath the elastic straps. Ensure that the unit’s corners are secured by the elastic straps. 2). Secure the upper portion of the carry bag to headrest support bars using the headrest strap.

H. Setup Press ‘SETUP’ to display the Main screen of the Setup Menu on the screen. Press ‘SETUP’ again to exit the Setup Menu and the unit will resume it’s last playback mode. Main Setup Menu Screen 1) Press “SETUP”, the ‘General Setup Page’ will display on screen. a).Select ‘TV Display’ using the UP/DOWN button, and then press RIGHT to enter the submenu. Select the TV display mode on the screen using UP/DOWN, and press ENTER to confirm the setting. Press LEFT to return.
b).Select ‘Angle Mark’ using the UP/DOWN button, and then press the RIGHT button to enter the submenu. Choose Angle Mark on or off using the UP/DOWN button and then press ENTER to confirm the setting. Press the LEFT button to return. Angle Mark Screen Display * On: The screen will show the angle mark icon. (*If an angle option is available). * Off: The screen will not display the Angle Mark NOTE: Not all discs contain the above features. The above features are disc dependent. c).
d). Select ‘Last Memory’ by UP/DOWN button. Last Memory Screen Display *on: The unit will return to the last position on the disc. *off: The unit will not return to the last position on the disc. Note: The Last position memory function will only work when the power is on. 2) Select “Video Quality Setup”by using the LEFT/RIGHT button, press ENTER to enter the video quality setup page. b).Select ‘Contrast’ by using the UP/DOWN button, then press ENTER you can adjust the Contrast by pressing the LEFT/RIGHT button. Contrast Screen Display To exit ‘Contrast’ Setting, press ENTER again to return the main menu. c).Select ‘Hue’ by using the UP/DOWN button, then press ENTER you can adjust the Hue by pressing the LEFT/RIGHT button. Hue (Tint) Screen Display To exit ‘Hue’ Setting, press ENTER again to return the main Menu. d).
To exit ‘Saturation’ setting, press ENTER again to return to the main Menu. 3).Select “Password” using the LEFT/RIGHT button, then press the RIGHT button to enter the submenu. Password Setup Page Screen Display Press ENTER to enter the Password Change Page. Input the Old Password or the Default Password, the New Password, and the Confirmed New Password. Press ENTER to confirm the change. PASSWORD VERIFY Input Screen Display NOTE: The Default Password is 3308.
4).With no disc inside the player select ‘Preference Page’ using the LEFT / RIGHT buttons, then press ENTER to enter the preference page. a. Select ‘Audio’ using the UP/DOWN button, then press RIGHT to enter the submenu. Select the audio language you desire using the UP/DOWN button, then press ENTER to confirm the setting. Press LEFT to return. Preference Audio Language b. Select ‘Subtitle’ the using UP/DOWN button, then press RIGHT to enter the submenu.
Note: Language and subtitle selection is only available for discs that are recorded in the above listed languages. If the selected, language is not available, the player will play and display on the screen the original recorded language contained in the disc. c. Select ‘Disc Menu’ using the UP/DOWN button, then press RIGHT to enter the submenu. Select the Disc Menu Language you desire using the UP/DOWN button, then press ENTER to confirm the setting. Press LEFT to return.
e. Select ‘Default’ using the UP/DOWN button, then press RIGHT to enter the submenu. Press ENTER to make the setting return to the factory-set mode. NOTE: The parental setting is not affected by the default reset function.

J. Menu A DVD is divided into sections called titles and chapters. When you play a DVD, a root menu of the disc will appear on the screen of your TV or Monitor. The contents of the menu vary from disc to disc. Press MENU during playback to display the menu. Some DVDs only allow you to select disc playback options using the DVD root menu. K. Display 1. PLAYING TIME AND REMAINING TIME a.

Press ‘DISPLAY’ a 5th time to exit, ‘Display Off’ will be displayed and will disappear automatically in 3 seconds. 2.
Angle Screen Display 3. SUBTITLE During disc playback press ‘SUBTITLE’ to select the subtitle language you desire*, with the current Subtitle Language Number (1) and the total Number of Subtitle Languages (2) displayed. If there are multiple languages press ‘SUBTITLE’ again to select another subtitle language. To turn subtitles OFF, press the ‘SUBTITLE’ button until ‘Subtitle Off’ is displayed. The Subtitle display will disappear automatically if the ‘SUBTITLE’ button is not pressed again within 3 seconds.
4. AUDIO During playback press ‘AUDIO’ to select the audio language you desire*, with the current Audio Channel Number (1) and the total number of Audio Channels (2) displayed. Press AUDIO again to select another audio language. The audio display will disappear automatically if the ‘AUDIO’ button is not pressed within 3 seconds. Audio Language Screen Display * Some DVDs only allow access to this function through the DVD root menu. 5. ZOOM During playback press ‘ZOOM’ to enlarge the picture by 2x, 3x or 4X.
6. A-B REPEAT a. During playback press ‘A-B’ once to set the Starting Point A. A-B Repeat Starting Point Screen Display b. Press ‘A-B’ a second time to set the Ending Point B and the player will repeatedly play the part between Point A and Point B. A-B Repeat Ending Point Screen Display c. Press A-B a third time to cancel A-B repeat and resume normal playback.
7. 1/ALL REPEAT a. During playback press ‘1/ALL REPEAT’ once to repeatedly play the current chapter. Chapter Repeat Screen Display b. During playback press ‘1/ALL REPEAT’ twice to repeatedly play the current title. Title Repeat Screen Display c. During playback press ‘1/ALL REPEAT’ three times to repeat All Chapters and Titles.
d. Press ‘1/ALL REPEAT’ a 4th time, to resume normal playback. Repeat Off Screen Display L. Playing Audio CDS When playing an audio CD the information DISPLAY will be displayed automatically. The options below show you what information is available using this function. a. The current track and playing time of that track will be displayed on the screen. Single Elapsed Screen Display b.Press ‘DISPLAY’ one time and Single Remain appears along with the current track playing and the amount of time left.
c. Press ‘DISPLAY’ a 2nd time and Total Elapsed appears along with the current track playing and the total time that the CD has been playing. Total Elapsed Screen Display d. Press ‘DISPLAY’ a 3rd time and Total Remain appears along with the current track playing and the amount of time remaining on the CD. Total Remain Screen Display e. Press ‘DISPLAY’ a 4th time and “ Display Off ” will appear momentarily then disappear. The CD time Information will not be displayed.
M. Playing MP3 Discs MP3 is a format for storing digital audio. An audio CD-quality song is compressed into the MP3 format with very little loss of audio quality while taking up much less disc space. CD-R /RW discs that have been encoded in MP3 format are compatible with this system. Insert a MP3 CD, the DVD player will initialize the disc and the directory (folder) will be shown on the TV screen. MP3 MENU Screen Display When a MP3 disc is inserted into the unit, the menu screen appears automatically.
Use the ( NEXT ) button to move to the next song. Press the (PREVIOUS) button to move to the beginning of the previous song. USING THE REPEAT FEATURE The default mode for the Repeat feature is OFF. Pressing 1/ALL REPEAT consecutively changes the repeat options: • Repeat One • Repeat Folder • Repeat Off As you toggle through the options, the repeat option changes. The selected repeat option loops repeatedly until you turn it off.
N. Playing JPEG files 1) Load the JPEG Disc into tray. 2) Select JPEG file by pressing “UP/DOWN” button. 3) You can preview the JPEG file by pressing “Play” or “ENTER”. 4) Pressing the “Left Key“ will rotate the picture90 degrees counterclocckwise. Pressing the “Right Key“ will rotate the picture clockwise. 5) When browsing the photos, you can reverse the photo horizontally by pressing “Up” key,or you can reverse the photos vertically by pressing “Down” key.
k. Press “display” 11th time, “COMPRESS TO CENTER H” will display on the screen, the picture will refresh from top and bottom to center. l. Press “display” 12th time, “COMPRESS TO CENTER V” will display on the screen, the picture will refresh from right and left to center. m.Press “display” 13th time, “WINDOW H” will display on the screen, the picture will refresh from four window’s top side to bottom side. n.
O. Connecting to a TV or another monitor ( Refer to Figure 5) You can also connect the DVD player to a TV to enjoy high quality stereo audio and video on another monitor. To connect the DVD player to a monitor requires the purchase of an audio/video cable. The cable is readily available at most electronic retailers. The cable consists of three RCA jacks with the colors red and white corresponding to right and left audio channels and the yellow RCA connector is the video signal.
P. Rechargeable Battery Installation and Use The player utilizes a set of long-life Ni-Mh batteries for a portable power supply. Ni-MH batteries feature high storage capacity and low level of degradation. This means the Ni-MH batteries do not have “Memory Effect” and thus can be recharged safely regardless of whether the battery is fully or only partially discharged. The battery must be charged at least 8 hours prior to first use.
2. Recharge efficiency will degrade when environmental temperatures drop below 50oF (10oC) or exceed 95oF (35oC). 3. Please remove the battery from the player and store it properly if the player is not to be used for long time. Disc won’t play • Check the type of disc you put into disc tray. This DVD player only plays DVD’s audio CDs and MP3s. Play starts, but then stops immediately • Both the unit and the disc are coded by region. If the regional codes don’t match, the disc can’t be played.
