NOTE: When you choose to import settings, only the settings specied in the XML le are imported.
Any corresponding settings are overwritten with the new values. All other existing settings remain
unchanged.
Updating the HP Create Control Panel software
HP recommends that you update the software on a regular basis. Update can bring new features and resolve
problems. Check the HP website for updated versions of the software.
The updates on the HP website are packaged in compressed les called SoftPaqs.
Some download packages contain a le named Readme.txt, which contains information regarding installing
and troubleshooting the le.
Determining the software version
To decide whether you need to update the software, rst determine the software version on your computer.
1. Open the HP Create Control Panel app.
2. Select About.
3. Make note of the driver version, and then select OK.
To check for later HP Create Control Panel software versions, see Downloading a software update
on page 40.
Downloading a software update
CAUTION: To reduce the risk of damage to the computer or an unsuccessful installation, download and
install a software update only when the computer is connected to reliable external power using the AC
adapter. Do not download or install a software update while the computer is running on battery power,
docked in an optional docking device, or connected to an optional power source. During the download and
installation, follow these instructions:
Do not disconnect power on the computer by unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet.
Do not shut down the computer or initiate Sleep.
Do not insert, remove, connect, or disconnect any device, cable, or cord.
1. Type support in the taskbar search box, and then select the HP Support Assistant app.

. Follow the on-screen instructions.

. At the download area, follow these steps:
a
. Identify the most recent HP Create Control Panel software update and compare it to the HP Create
Control Panel software version currently installed on your computer. Make a note of the version
number. You may need this information to locate the update later, after it has been downloaded to
your hard drive.
b
. Follow the on-screen instructions to download your selection to the hard drive.
Make a note of the path to the location on your hard drive where the HP Create Control Panel
software update is downloaded. You will need to access this path when you are ready to install the
update.
NOTE: If you connect your computer to a network, consult the network administrator before installing
an
y software updates.
