Pedagogical Handbook ® TELL ME MORE Welcome to TELL ME MORE®! TELL ME MORE®, the complete language learning method, is a pedagogical software package that makes teaching and learning a foreign language both practical and rewarding. With TELL ME MORE®, students are able to work on the whole range of skills necessary to master a foreign language. The wide range of activities (dialogues, various exercises, cultural texts, etc.
® TELL ME MORE Pedagogical Handbook TELL ME MORE®: Learning Modes and activities The Learning Modes TELL ME MORE® offers three different Learning Modes. • The Guided Mode enables structured learning based on specific topics. It is organised into different Learning Paths, each adapted to the student’s ability level. • The Free-to-Roam Mode gives complete access to the linguistic and pedagogical content.
Pedagogical Handbook ® TELL ME MORE The Dynamic Mode: for a Learning Path that adapts according to students’ progress Caution! The Dynamic Mode is deactivated by default in TELL ME MORE® Education. You can activate it for each student using Tutor Tools. In this mode, students work following one of the proposed objectives. TELL ME MORE® constantly adapts an individual student’s Learning Path according to their progression and the results obtained in each activity.
® TELL ME MORE Pedagogical Handbook Presentation and description of the activities working on areas of knowledge The activities in TELL ME MORE® allow students to either start learning a foreign language or improve their existing linguistic skills, both oral and written. A A summary of all the activities and the skills/knowledge areas they address is available in the appendix.
® TELL ME MORE Pedagogical Handbook questions follow, relating to the video in global or specific terms, testing students on what they have remembered from the video. Students can review the whole video or just the paragraph relating to a question by clicking on the video link whenever they are unable to answer. In the Oral Workshop in the Free-to-Roam Mode, there are two series of closed questions available for each video. Students can choose which set of questions to attempt.
Pedagogical Handbook ® TELL ME MORE A PDF file containing a list of the grammar points for each language is available in the program group file. The points are classed by Lesson Family and by difficulty level. Conjugation Tool The Conjugation Tool, accessible from every activity using the Find out more about a word function, gives students access to the conjugation of any one of the 550 to 2,300 verbs available (depending on the language).
Pedagogical Handbook ® TELL ME MORE On every map, students can select or deselect different elements (islands, borders, regions, etc.). There are also zoom and full-screen map functions, allowing the maps to be viewed differently and/or in greater detail. Finally, icons on the maps give direct access to any Cultural Texts linked to the map. Note: The Maps activity is not available for Dutch. Pedagogical Handbook ® TELL ME MORE How to use TELL ME MORE® efficiently TELL ME MORE® is a teaching aid aimed at either replacing or complementing traditional language learning materials (books, video cassettes, audio cassettes, etc.) that Tutors may use, for example, to introduce a study theme and its associated vocabulary or to expand upon a grammar point. This section sets out different ways of using TELL ME MORE®, whether it be for group work or individual learning.
Pedagogical Handbook ® TELL ME MORE • Mystery Phrase Tutors can have students carry out the Mystery Phrase activity to evaluate their vocabulary and written comprehension. The definition can be projected onto a screen. Students can then take it in turns to suggest letters until the word or words are completed. This exercise also gives students the opportunity to revise the phonetic alphabet.
Pedagogical Handbook ® TELL ME MORE § MORE®. Students have to collect information on a specific topic, using the dialogues, videos and Cultural Workshop, and then present their work to the group. Gives students who have problems speaking in front of groups the opportunity to practise and express themselves freely.
Pedagogical Handbook ® TELL ME MORE Advise beginners to use the Guided Mode The Guided Mode’s straightforward and aesthetically-pleasing layout informs students of what they have done, what they still have to do and the order in which they should do it. This Learning Mode is therefore particularly well adapted for students unfamiliar with TELL ME MORE®.
