Instructions
Overview
Coiled XLR Cable
The integrated coiled XLR cable
smoothly extends and retracts
with the telescoping tubes
(“R” and “B” models).
Ergonomic Twist Locks
The ergonomic twist locks
are comfortable to grip and
make length adjustment
fast and eortless.
Rean TA3 (mini XLR)
connectors
The coiled XLR cable, bottom
housing, and extension
cables feature TA3 (mini XLR)
connectors manufactured by
Rean® (a registered trademark
of Neutrik®) that provide a
secure locking connection and
high-quality signal transfer
(“R” and “B” models).
Tip Strain relief
The tip strain-relief system
absorbs tension, secures
the cable, and protects the
cable from damage from
the edges of the tip exit. (“R”
and “B” models).
Arrowhead tip
The unique arrowhead tip
design reduces weight at the
top of the pole. It also allows
for easy drop-through cable
insertion. The benefit is that
it makes cable replacement
quick and uncomplicated
when recording on the go. With
solderless design, no special
tools are needed to add or
replace the XLR cable with the
cable conversion/replacement
kit (sold separately.)
Adjusting the length of the boom pole
1. While firmly holding the boom pole, loosen the
twist locks and extend the sections.
2. Once extended to the desired length,
securely tighten the twist locks.
Pro tip: When extending boom pole, start with the top
sections first. This way you will be able to reach the
remaining twist locks as you lengthen the pole.
3. Collapse the boom pole by holding it at the base,
loosen the twist lock nearest to you, and return the
section to the minimized position. Repeat this for
the other twist locks until the pole is collapsed.
Changing the bottom housing
The CFP Boom Pole is designed to work with both
bottom-exit and side-exit housings (each sold separately).
To exchange these parts, refer to the instructions that are
included with the replacement housing.
Adding the balance weight
To add the balance weight to your CFP boom pole, follow the
instructions that are included with the balance weight.
Adding an extension
Extension tubes with a mini XLR cable can be added to
all of the CFP models. Follow the instructions that are
included with the CFP-ET series of extension tubes
Adding/replacing the coiled XLR cable
The coiled XLR cable can be added to the “N” models and
replaced on “R” and “B” models. Follow the instructions that are
included with the cable replacement kit (sold separately.)
Bottom-exit XLR
connector
The bottom-exit XLR
connector is securely
integrated into the bottom
threaded cap ("B" models).
Neutrik® side-exit
XLR connector
The flush mount side-
exit XLR connector,
manufactured by
Neutrik®, is securely
integrated into the
side exit attachment.
It provides a secure
locking connection with
excellent signal transfer
(“R” models).
Balance Weight
The balance weight is
designed to work with
the CFP boom poles
and all of the bottom
housing attachments.
By providing a
counterweight at the
base of the boom pole, it
balances the microphone
and shockmount and
provides stability (sold
separately).
Extensions
Each extension tube
adds from 2-feet
to 6-feet of length
(depending on models)
and includes a cable
with TA3 (mini XLR)
connector to securely
connect with the
integrated coiled XLR
cable and bottom
housing.
Rubber end cap
The rubber end cap provides
a durable rubber pad at the
bottom end of the boom pole
and allows the operator to rest
the pole on its end without
damage to the wiring or the
pole (“R” and “N” models.)
Precautions
Bottom strain relief
Additional strain relief
protects and preserves the
connection between the cable
and the TA3 connector.
