1.1.1 Before Installing your chosen Operating System Before you install your chosen operating system you should configure your SCSI card in accordance with the documentation supplied with it. Do NOT at this stage install any hardware supplied with WinCue Pro News. 1.1.2 WinCue Pro News Installation Help There are issues to look out for when installing WinCue Pro News: WinCue Pro News works on Window's 95, 98, Window's NT 4.0, Window's 2000 and Window's XP. Windows ME is NOT supported.
• Manuals (WinCue Pro News User Guide and a guide to connecting WinCue to your Newsroom system) • 1.3 Laptop users will receive an I.M.T. box, not the I.M.T. scroll card. IMT Scroll Card The I.M.T. scroll card allows WinCue Pro News to prompt text in any language. Data from the scroll card is sent to the prompter screen via the on-board composite video channel. The I.M.T. card also features an on-board genlock port. In addition, an I.M.T. scroll control can be attached to the I.M.T.
See Chapter 7 to learn more about the different scroll controls supported by WinCue Pro News. 1.4.3 Connecting a Composite Video Feed This port supplies the composite video feed to the prompter screen(s). The I.M.T card comes in 3 versions: Issue 1 card; the composite video output port is the BNC port closest to the scroll control port on the I.M.T card. Issue 2 card, the composite video output port is the BNC port furthest the scroll control port on the I.M.T card.
1.5.2 Connecting a Scroll Control Laptops normally use the I.M.T. scroll control. The I.M.T. scroll control port is the 9 pin analogue port on top of the I.M.T. box. WinCue Pro News expects a scroll control to be connected to this port. The I.M.T. scroll control will not work if it is attached to any other port on your PC. 1.5.3 Connecting a Composite Video Feed There are 2 versions of the I.M.T. box, one has four BNC composite outputs and the other has one.
Laptop users must switch on the I.M.T. box before switching on the laptop. This is to ensure the PCMCIA SCSI card successfully detects the I.M.T. scroll card. 1.7 Installing the Software It is assumed you have already successfully installed your chosen operating system on a PC and this meets the minimum hardware requirements. If WinCue Pro News is being installed on Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000 you will need to be logged in as Administrator. The software is supplied on CD with a license diskette.
The installation program will load. Follow the on screen instructions carefully. Once all the software has been copied onto your PC you will need to shut it down and switch it off to install the I.M.T. scroll card. The licence included with each copy of WinCue Pro News is designed to work with the supplied I.M.T. scroll card. It will not work with any other I.M.T. card. 1.
Select the appropriate scroll control from the list of Available Control Types and click OK. See Chapter 7 for more information on the different scroll controls. If the following error message appears: Make sure that you have your hand control connected to the correct COM port, this is set in the “Configure Hybrid Serial / IMT Multibutton Controller” set-up menu. If this has been set correctly then re-select the COM port that you are using.

11 PowerPoint Automation WinCue Pro News User Guide PowerPoint Automation • 117
11.1 PowerPoint Automation WinCue has the ability to trigger Microsoft PowerPoint slides whilst prompting a script; this particular feature has proved extremely useful in delivering presentations and conferences. This document will explain how to set-up and use this feature. It is assumed that a WinCue Pro News prompter machine, with scroll control, is already set-up and that you are familiar with the WinCue Pro News program. 11.1.
11.1.3 What is PowerPoint Agent? PowerPoint Agent is the program that connects WinCue to Microsoft PowerPoint, allowing it to control the triggering of PowerPoint slides. WinCue cannot connect directly to Microsoft PowerPoint, the PowerPoint Agent connects to both WinCue and then to Microsoft PowerPoint, so it uses the PowerPoint Agent as a gobetween. 11.1.4 Installing PowerPoint Agent To install the PowerPoint Agent, you will need your WinCue Software Installation CD and your WinCue License disk.
Once the set-up has completed, you will be able to find the program by clicking on the Windows Start button, then selecting Programs and then selecting PowerPoint Agent. Go to Connecting WinCue to the PowerPoint Agent to find out more about how to configure the PowerPoint Agent. 11.2 Configuring WinCue Pro News Before configuring WinCue to use PowerPoint automation the Automation menu will not have any automation devices available for use.

12 WinCue Pro News User Guide Master/Slave Master/Slave • 130
12.1 The Concept The concept of remote prompting is to have one prompt operator controlling a second prompt output over a remote modem link or by direct serial connection. The Workstations at both ends need to have the same version of WinCue 1.3 and an IMT card installed. These Workstations can each function as standalone prompters if required.
Select the Master/Slave Interface option The Master/Slave Interface settings will appear opposite the Options list; by default Master/Slave will be configured to use a Serial Port connection, however it may need further port configuration or you may wish to connect via modem.
12.3.1 Serial Port Connection Configuring the Serial Port is very simple, just ensure that the Using Modem Connection option is not selected and the click on the Serial Port tab and choose the COM port that you will be using to connect to the other machine. The other settings available for configuring the Serial Port connection are set to the optimum performance by default, so there is no need to change them. 12.3.
12.3.3 Other Master/Slave Configuration Options The other configuration options available in Master/Slave concern how the text is organised and displayed on both the Master and Slave machine, it is important that these settings are the same on both machines. 12.
12.5 Using Master/Slave To use Master/Slave simply start scrolling from the Master machine and the Slave machine will copy its actions. To stop the Master/Slave option, click on the Master/Slave menu and select Deactivate.

13.1 Problem Solving If you are having difficulties starting WinCue Pro News or have any other problems it is often a good idea to check your WinCue Pro News IMT card and your SCSI card to ensure that they are set-up correctly. The following sections will talk you through possible IMT and SCSI problems and how to fix them. 13.1.1 Laptop systems (Slim SCSI 1460a) If, when starting WinCue Pro News, the initialisation stops at 42% the problem is caused by the version of the Windows SCSI driver (sparrow.
13.1.3 Desktop systems (2940xx) If the SCSI card is slow to initialise, for example, during boot up’s it waits at “Adaptec aha-2940 scsi bios vX.XX.X”, or if you get the message “device connected but not ready”, then you must down grade the SCSI card bios. If the message “Fatal: WinCue Pro News could not find your hardware” appears, then you have not installed the SCSI card or it’s drivers or you have not plugged in your SCSI cable. 13.1.
If this has started you will have to disable it by clicking on start up and selecting disable. You will then have to restart Windows for these settings to take effect. 13.1.6 Windows 2000 To use WinCue Pro News with Windows 2000 you must have the new version 2.00 ROMs installed on your I.M.T card and a windows 2000 compatible version of WinCue Pro News must be installed on your machine, for example, WinCue Pro News build 589 or above.
If you try to run a non-Windows 2000 compatible version of WinCue Pro News with an IMT card that has the new version 2.00 ROMs installed on it you will get a SCSI error when you try to run the WinCue Pro News software. If Windows continues to find multiple IMT cards or if the IMT card is shown as an unknown device use the following instructions. On the WinCue Pro News CD there should be a file called imtcard2.inf.
It is also important that only one device on the SCSI bus is terminated, the device located at the end of the cable must be the only one terminated. The IMT card is terminated by default and is expected to be connected to the end of the SCSI cable. SCSI termination is set using jumpers or switches on the SCSI devices; consult their relevant manuals for further details. The following tables detail hardware devices recommended for use with WinCue Pro News.
