preview as a Quicktime movie by specifying a
file name with a .mov extension. If you spec ify a
single-image format, such as .tga,thepreviewis
output as a series of sequentially numbered files.
Use Dev ice—Lets you output the prev iew to an
external device, such as a digital recorder. The
button at right displays the name of the currently
assigned device. Click it to either change the
settings of t he dev ice, or assign a different device.
R end er Viewpo rt—Thislistshowsthenamesofthe
currently visible viewports, lett ing you choose
which viewport to render from within the Make
Preview dialog. Default=active viewport.
View Prev iew
Animation menu > View Preview
View Prev iew displays the Windows-standard
Media Player to view the current preview file.
When you use Make Preview, 3ds Max stores the
output preview in a file called _scene.avi by default.
View Previe w lo ads this file. If you want to keep
the preview file, use Rename Prev iew to s ave it
under another file name, otherwise, the next Make
Preview will overwrite _scene.avi.
The Media Player has its own Help system.
Rename Preview
Animation menu > Rename Preview
Rename Preview renames the _scene.avi preview
file.

Choose Animation > Rename Preview.
2. Specify a folder and a name for the preview file.
3. Click Save.

dialog > Panorama Exporter
The Panorama Exporter is a rendering utilit y that
lets you create and then view 360 degree spherical
panoramas.
Note: You need at least one camera in your scene to
use the Panorama Exporter.
Panorama Exporter creates a 360-degree spherical rendering.
