Note: The Lightscape importer does not con vert
Lightscape layers into 3ds Max s cene layers,
because it was wr itten before that feature was
implemented.
Pr ocedur es
To impor t a Lightscape (LS, V W, or LP) f ile:
1.
Choose File > Import.
TheSelectFileToImportdialogisdisplayed.
2. Choose Lig htscape (*.LS, *.VW, *.LP) f rom the
Files Of Type drop-down list.
3. Use the dialog’s controls to browse to the
directory that contains the file you want to use.
Highlight the name of that file, and then click
Open.
Depending on the type of file you chose, an
Import Lightscape Preparation dialog or an
Impor t Lightscape Solution dialog is displayed.
No dialog is displayed w hen you import a
Lightscape view (VW) file.
To replace the current scene:
When you import a Lightscape Solution or
Preparation file, you can choose to add the
importedobjectstothecurrentscene,ortoreplace
entire scene.
In the Import Lightscape Preparation dialog,
turn on Replace Current Scene.
In the Import Lightscape Solution dialog , turn
on Replace Scene Contents.
To group i mpor ted obj ects:
In the Import Lightscape Preparation or the
Import Lightscape Solution dialog, use the
controls in the Entity Grouping group to choose
how imported Lightscape objects are grouped.
See each dialog’s description for details about
these options.
To get version information about the Lightsca pe file
impor ter:
1.
Access the Import Lightscape Solution dia log.
2. Click About.
AnAboutLightscapeLSFileImportdialog
is displayed. This shows the version of the
importer that is cur rently installed.
Lightscape M aterials Utility
Utilities pa nel > Click More. > Utilities dia log > Choose
Lightscape Materials. > Lightscape Materials rol lou t
With the Lightscape Materials utility, you can add
the Lightscape material (page 2–1604) to multiple
objects, and remove the Lightscape radiosity
material from multiple objects.
