Wire Parameters—
Starts a wire parameter (page
2–411) from the selected object. This command
is available only if an object is selected when you
open the quad menu.
Co nvert ToThis submenu lets you convert the
selected object to an editable mesh (page 1–996),
an editable patch (page 1–968),aneditable spline
(page 1–289),aNURBS surface (page 1–1101),or
an editable poly (page 1–1022). This command
is available only if an object is selected when you
open the quad menu.
Display quadrant
These options are available from the Display
quadrant:
Isolate S election—The Isolate Selection tool (page
1–73) lets you edit your selection while hiding the
rest of the scene.
Tip: You can use this successively to dig into a large
selection set.
Isol ate S election’s L ay er—Isolates the layer of the
selected object.
Unfr eeze A ll—Unfreezes all frozen objects.
Freeze S electi on—Freezes the selected objects.
Frozen objects are visible in the viewp orts, but
cannot be manipulated.
Freeze S election’s L ayer Freezes the layer of the
selected object.
Unhide by Na me—Displays a dialog you use to
hide objects you choose from a list. See Select
Objects dialog (page 1–78),whichdescribesnearly
identical controls.
Note: Youcannotunhideanobjectonahidden
layer.Ifyouselectandobjectonahiddenlayer,a
dialog will prompt you to unhide the layer first.
Unhide All—Unhides all hidden objects.
Hide Unselected—Hides all visible objects that are
not selected. Hidden objects sti ll exist in the scene,
but do not appear in the viewports or in rendered
images.
Hide Selection—Hides the selected objects.
Hide Selection s Layer—Hi des the layer of the
selected object.
Save S cene S tate—Opens the Save Scene State
dialog where you enter a name for the current
scene a nd select the options you want saved with
the scene.
Manage Scene States—Opens the Manage Scene
Statesdialog. Thisisamodelessdialogwhere
you can select, save, restore, rename, and delete
scene states. See Manage Scene States Dialog (page
3–520).
Tools quadrants
The two quadrants on the left side of the default
quad menu are called Tools 1 and Tools 2. These
quadrantscontaincommandsspecifictovarious
geometries and modifiers such as: lights, editable
geometries, and cameras. These quadrants appear
only if one of the corresponding geometries or
modifiersisselectedwhenyouopenthequad
menu.
Additi onal Qua d M enus
Several specialized quad menus are available
when you are working in certain modes, such as
ActiveShade (page 3–17), Edit UVWs (page 1–888),
Track View (page 2–501),orwhenyoupressany
combination of
Shi f t , Ctrl ,or Alt while
right-clicking any standard viewport.
The ActiveShade quad menu provides many useful
commandssuchasRender,DrawRegion,Update,
as well as access to the Material Editor (page
2–1409).Similarly,theUnwrapUVWquadmenu
contains many common UVW commands.
