Procedure
To undo changes to a per spective or or t hogra phic
viewpor t , do one of the fol lowing:
•Right-clicktheviewportlabelandchoose
Undo. The type of Undo is specifically named
on the menu (for example, U ndo Zoom
Extents).
•Press
Shif t+Z .
Note: This is different from camera and light
viewports, wh ich require the use of Undo on
the main to olbar, or
Ct rl +Z .

Keyboard > Alt+Z turns on Zoom ; [ zooms i n; ]

Roll your mouse scroll wheel.
When Zoom is active, you can adjust the view
magnification by dragging in a Perspective or
orthographic viewport. By default, zooming
occurs from the center of the viewport.
Tip: If you use a wheel mouse, you can turn the
wheel to zoom the ac tive viewpor t in and out
without first activating Zoom. The zoom center is
the center of the viewport.
Zooming takes place incrementally, based on the
distance be tween the viewpoint and its “virtual
target, an inaccessible hidden target used for
calculation purposes only. Use the
Ctrl and
Alt keys, respectively, to increase or decrease
the increments. You can move the v irtual target
by holding down the
Shi f t key during a zoom
operation. Otherwise you will zoom increasingly
closer to the target, which does not move.
Procedures
To zoom a view:
1.
Activate a Perspective or orthographic
view por t.
2. Click Zoom.
The button highlights when it is on.
3. Drag in a viewport to change magnification:
Drag upward to increase magnification.
Drag downward to decrease magnification.
4. To ex it Z o o m m o d e , p ress Esc or right-click
in a viewport.
To increas e zoom speed:
•HolddownCtrl as you drag in a viewport.
To decrease zoom s peed:
•HolddownAlt as you drag in a viewport.
To turn on an automatic zoom mode:
•Onthekeyboard,holddownCtr l+Al t ,then
holddownthemiddlemousebuttonanddrag
in a viewport. This does not activate the Zoom
button.
