lets you see what ’s behind or inside an object
in a crowded scene, and especially to adjust
the position of objects behind or inside the
see-through object. Use this when you need to see
inside an object, such as a character with bones
inside. Default=off.
This option is also available from t he Display panel
(page 3–775) and the Object Properties dialog (page
1–117).
You can customize the color of see-through objects
by using the Colors panel (page 3–799) of the
Customize > Customize User Interface dialog (page
3–792). Choose G eomet ry f rom the Elements list,
and then choose See-Through.
Ke yboard shortcut (default):
Alt+X
Ignore Extents—Allows an object to b e excluded
from a zoom extents operation. Choose this when
you have lig hts or other distant objects that you
dontwanttousewhenyoudoaZoom Extents
(page 3–740).
Show Frozen in Gray—When on, the object turns
gray in viewports when you freeze it. When off,
viewports display the object w ith its usual color or
texture even when it is frozen. Default=on.

Command panels > Utilities panel
The Utilities panel gives you access to a variet y of
utility programs. 3ds Max utilities are provided
as plug-ins (page 3–995).3dsMaxshipswiththe
utilities listed below. Some utilities are available
from third-party developers, so your setup of
3dsMaxmightincludeutilitiesnotdescribed
here. Look for documentation describing these
additional plug-ins by choosing Help > Additional
Help.

The Utilities panel contains one rollout for
managing and invoking utilities. While a utilit y
is running, additional rollouts can appear. Some
utilities use a dialog rather than rollouts.
The Utilities rollout contains the following controls
at the top:
MoreDisplays a Utilities dialog that lists a ll
utilities not already displayed in buttons on the
Utilities panel. Highlight a utility in the list and
then click OK to displa y its controls in the Utilities
panel. (You can also double-click the utility’s
name.)
