In addition to the points that are an integral part of
point cur ve (page 1–1106) and point surface (page
1–1102) objects, you can create "freestanding"
points. Such points can help you construct point
cur ves by using the Cur ve Fit (page 1–1157)
button. You also use dependen t points to trim
cur ves.
You create individual points as NURBS sub-objects
whileyouaremodifyingNURBS.Tocreatepoints
individually, use the Create Points rollout or the
NURBS toolbox (page 1–1083).
Toolbox B uttons for Creating Points
These are the toolbox buttons for creating point
sub-objects:
Create an independent point (page 1–1219).
Create a dependent offset point (page 1–1219).
Create a dependent curve point (page
1–1220).
Create a dependent curve-curve intersection
point (page 1–1223).
Create a dependent surface point (page
1–1222).
Create a dependent surface-curve intersection
point (page 1–1224).

Create Point button
This command creates an independent,
freestanding point.
Procedure
To crea te a f r eesta nding poi nt:
1.
Select a NURBS object.
2. In the Modify > Create Points rollout, turn on
Point.
3. Click a viewport to position the point.
Independent point sub-objects have no additional
parameters. You can use Curve Fit in the Create
Curves rollout to create a curve from multiple
freestanding points.
Interfa ce
There are no additional controls for independent
points.

is coincident to an existing point or at a relative
distance from an existing point.
