TheU-TypeStairobjectletsyoucreateatwo-flight
staircase, with the two flights paral lel to each other
and a landing between them.
Types of U-type stair: open, closed, and boxed
U-type stairs have two flights in opposite directions, and a
landing.
Procedure
To create U-Type stairs:
1.
In any viewport, drag to set t he length for the
firstflight. Releasethemousebutton,then
movethecursorandclicktosetthewidthof
the landing, or the distance separating the two
flights.
2. Clickandmovethecursorupordowntodefine
theriseofthestairs,thenclicktoend.
3. Adjust the stairs by using the options in the
Parameters rollout.

Open—Createsanopenriserstairasshownonthe
left in the illustration above.
Clo sed Creates a closed riser stair as shown in the
center in the illustration above.
Box—Creates a stair with closed risers and closed
stringersonbothsidesasshownontherightinthe
illustration above.
Generate Geometry group
Stringers—Createsstringersalongtheendsof
the treads of the stairs. To modify the stringers
depth, width, offset and spring from the floor, see
Stringers rollout (page 1–245).
Carri ag eCreates an inclined, notched beam
under the treads which supports the steps or adds
support between the stringers of the stairs. You
might also k now this as a carr iage piece, a horse,
or a roughstring. See Carriage rollout (page 1–245)
to modify the p arameters.
Handrail—Createsleftandrighthandrails. See
Railings rollout (page 1–246) to modify the
handrails height, offset, number of segments, and
radius.
