274 Chapter 5: Creating Geometry
Once you have created a circle, you can make
changes u sing the following parameter:
Radius—Specifies the radius of the circle.
Ellipse Spline
Create panel > Shapes > Splines > Object Type rollout
> El lip se
Create menu > Shapes > Ellipse
Use Ellipse to create elliptical and circular splines.
Examples of ellipses
Procedure
To create an ellipse:
1.
GototheCreatepanelandchoose
Shapes.
2. Click Ellipse.
3. Chooseacreationmethod.
4. Drag in a viewport to draw the ellipse.
Optionally, press
Ct rl while dragging to
constrain the spline to a circle.
Inter face
Rendering and Interpolation rollouts
All spline-based shapes share these p arameters.
See Splines ( page 1–266) for explanations of these
parameters.
Creation Method rollout
The Ellipse shape uses the standard creation
methodsofCenterorEdge. Mostspline-based
shapes share the same Creation Method
parameters. See Splines (page 1–266) for an
explanation of these parameters.
Parameters rollout
Once you have created an Ellipse, you can make
changes using the following parameters:
Lengt h—Specifies the size of the Ellipse along the
local Y axis.
WidthSpecifies the size of the Ellipse local X axis.
Arc Spline
Create panel > Shapes > Splines > O bject Type rollout
>Arc
Create menu > Shapes > Arc
Use Arc to create open and closed circular arcs
made of four vertices.
Procedures
To create an arc using the end-end-middle method:
1.
Go to the Create p anel and choose
Shapes.
2. Click Arc.
3. ChoosetheEnd-End-Middlecreationmethod.
4. Drag in a viewport to set the two ends of the arc.
5. Releasethemousebutton,thenmovethe
mouse and click to specif y a third point on an
arc between the two endpoints.
