NGon Spline 277
NGon S pline
Create panel > Shapes > Splines > Object Type rollout >
NGon
Create menu > Shapes > NGon
Use NGon to create closed flat-sided or circular
splines with any number (N) of sides or vertices.
Examples of NGons
Procedure
To create an NGon:
1.
GototheCreatepanelandchoose
Shapes.
2. Click NGon.
3. Chooseacreationmethod.
4. Drag and release the mouse button in a
viewport to draw the N
Gon.

Rendering and Interpolation rollouts
All spline-based shap
es share these parameters.
See Splines (page 1–266) for an explanation of
these p arameters.
Creation Method rollout
TheNGonshapeusesthestandardcreation
methods of Center or E dge. Most spline-based
shapes share the sa
me Creation Method
parameters. See Splines (page 1–266) for an
explanation of these parameters.
Parameters rollout
Once you ha v e created an NGon, you can make
changes using the following parameters:
Radius—Specifies the NGon radius. You can use
either of two met hods to specify the radius:
Inscr ibed—The radius from the center to the
corners of the NGon
Circum s cri b e d The radius from the center to
the sides of the NGon.
Sides—Specifies the number of sides and vertices
used by the NGon. Range=3 to 100.
Co rner RadiusSpecifies the degree of rounding to
apply to the corners of the NGon. A setting of 0
specifies a standard unrounded corner.
Circul arWhen on, spec ifies a circular NGon.
Star Spline
Create panel > Shapes > Splines > O bject Type rollout
>Star
Create menu > Shapes > Star
Use Star to create closed star-shaped splines with
any number of points. Star splines use two radiuses
to set the distance between the outer p oints and
inner va l leys.
