Steps—The steps field spinner determines how
many steps are used between each vertex. The
higher the step count, t he smoother the curve you
will get between vertices.

Select an object. > Modify panel > Modifiers List >
Object–Space M odifiers > SurfDeform
Select an object. > Modify panel > Modifiers List >
World–Space Modifiers > Sur fDeform
Select an object. > Modifiers menu > Animation M odifiers
>SurfDeform
Select an object. > Modifiers menu > Animation M odifiers
> SurfDeform (WSM)
The SurfDeform mod ifier works the same way as
the PatchDeform modifier (page 1–754),except
that it uses a N URBS Point or C V sur face instead
of a patch surface to apply surface deformation.
SurfDe form shapes how the snake rests.
Procedure
To use the SurfDeform modifier:
1.
Select an object.
2. From the Modify panel > Modifier List,
choose Object–Space Modifiers > SurfDeform.
3. On the Parameters rollout, click Pick Surface.
4. Select a NURBS Point or CV surface.
5. Deform the object by adjusting the controls in
the Surface Deform group.

Editing > Sweep
The Sweep modifier is used to extrude a
cross-section a long an underly ing spline or
NURBS cur ve p ath. It is similar to the Loft
compoundobjectbutisamoreefficientmethod.
The Sweep modifier allows you to work with a
series of pre-made cross-sections such as ang les,
channels and wide flanges. You can also use your
